Any guidance or anyone with Cancer metastasis to Liver? My mother has stage 4 Ovarian Cancer which even after chemo has spread to Liver. Her bilrubin levels are not coming under control infact are increasing and situation is not improving. She’s extremely weak and low on energy. Doctors saying nothing can be done until bilrubin levels are in range and even with a stunt the levels are increasing.
She’s is on a plant based diet and she’s extremely weak.
Anyone here with any advice? Any options/alternatives, similar experience and saw improvement?
Getting extremely worried.
Thank you for all the help and guidance.

Hi,I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's condition! I am a nurse, and know that reasonable liver functioning is an important factor in being able to tolerate chemotherapy. I had stage 4 ovarian cancer with some liver metastasis, which was able to be removed with surgery after chemo. Fortunately, my liver functions were not terribly affected by the chemo, so your mother's situation is different from mine. I would wonder if immunotherapy could be used for her, and would ask about that. Additionally, you could seek a second opinion.
Hoping that things improve for your mother and you soon. Keep communication lines open with the medical staff so that she remains a priority! Take care!
Hi: I am sorry to hear about your mom. I am just wondering if she has had tumour testing to see if she may qualify for immunotherapy drugs like Pembrolizumab or Dostarilimab. I am on immunotherapy currently in Canada, and there are many people who have Stage 4 metastatic disease who had miraculous results after immunotherapy. But yes, I believe her liver numbers have to improve before the oncologist can try any new treatment. Please ask for tumour testing. Time is of the essence in Cancer treatment. All the best to you and your mom.
