Hi,
Did you think that trials are good idea?
H, I’d say yes. I was diagnosed OC HGS 3B BRAC2 in October 2007 and told I had a poor prognosis and that I had a couple of years. I trialled Avastin in 2007/2008, then Cedranib in 2012 after my first recurrence and then Olaparib from Jan 2014……. The trial ended 4 years ago but I’m still on it. On a rollover study. With a trial you are closely monitored. I have been NED this time for 10 years 6 months. If I were to have a third recurrence I’d defo go on another clinical trial if I met the criteria. The big plus for me is I’m also doing something for others.
Thank you for sharing your experience Kathy. I am at the very beginning of the journey, waiting for laparoscopic results before starting treatment. I have been feeling really sad today and reading your post has lifted my spirits.

Thank you very much for your support and help!
I am in Canada. I have now stage 4 ovarian cancer with metastasis in plural infusion. My oncologist told me that is a very bad prognosis and I have few months to live. He wants me to starter chemotherapy with Taxol, Platinum and Avastin. But health Canada refuse to give me access to Avactin. I had debulkin surgery in Europe and also VAT for pleural effusion and stayed stable only very little increase of infusion.
In my country of origin I can receive Avastin.
Onkologist here told I can go to trial if I wish.
I don’t know what to do. Since September I am left without any treatment and I am scared. This month I hade a CT Scan that shows enlarged lymph’s I my abdomen, my tumor markers are 70 . I am really scared I may have to go for treatment in my country- Bulgaria when they will give me Avastin.
I am so interested to read in your side and to see how well organized is cancer care in UK. How mush help the cancer patients receive theyre and that make me sad.
I do not even have phone numbers of my oncologist. Today I have to wait him for phone interview since February 9 to tell me if I will have finally some traitment since September 2 when I had this BAT surgery to remove plural infusion. And talk and glue the pleura in Bulgaria that help me to mush and I still fell well.
Sorry for a long story but I am so desperate for help and nobody can help me.
What is better to go for Avastin in Bulgaria or to stay here for trial?
Thank you.

As we’re not clinically trained and this is a highly individual decision, we’re unable to offer a medical opinion regarding the most suitable course of treatment for you. In addition, all our information resources are written with U.K healthcare systems in mind meaning there will be variation in practice from Canada and Bulgaria.
