Good morning, my mum has had a radical hysterectomy earlier this year followed by 6 rounds of chemo. Ca125 15 and CT Scan post chemo performed - awaiting results. Stage 3C High grade serous cancer. Experiencing back pain in recent weeks, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if we should be concerned? Thank you xx

Hi there, first of all it's lovely to see you are looking after your mum.

Her story is practically the same as mine except I had 18 weeks of chemo. That was in 2013. I think we all experience different things during this journey and things that we would have considered normal or just one of those things develops into thoughts of it being worse due to the cancer. I would just advise that anything you are worried about, mention to your support team who will put your mind at rest. I found them very helpful.

I wish your mum all the very best and can say there is hope for her as I'm here to prove that. Zena xx

Morning, how lovely that your mum has your support. I too have back pain and had an MRI a few weeks ago. I’m stage 4a HGSC. The scan showed normal wear and tear. If concerned tell the team caring for your mum. It could just be normal wear and tear plus our bodies go through so much with the surgery and treatment. I also developed peripheral neuropathy due to the chemo. Best wishes to you and your mum xxx

At this stage we are all anxious and every flipping hangnail makes us think "is it back?" Ask your mum's team - they may want a scan if she hasn't had one for a while, but otherwise, my oncologist's advice was, if a new symptom appears and persists for two weeks, get it checked out, otherwise DON'T WORRY.

Not uncommon to have back pain but a scan will reveal all

When I had my radical hysterectomy - I experienced quite a bit of back pain as I had no stomach muscles! and it puts a strain on your back (apparently) but as the others have said - your mum should share any new symptoms with her Dr to make sure all is ok. Best to be safe.

did your Mum get some physio exercises to do after the op? I was given exercises which strengthen the internal muscles after the op . When I forget to do them for a few days, I get back pain . However , best if she checks with her oncologist just to eliminate anything else . . Wishing her all the best x x

Thank you all for your lovely comments. CT scan result shows a small area on the outside of the bowel which needs further investigation. Really shocked to hear this! After the procedure had been told cancer removed. Has anybody had a similar experience? Oncologist unable to say if it’s ovarian/bowel or something else until MRI performed. I would appreciate any advice xx
