antibiotics and Niraparib

hi ladies

Can any of you help me.

I have been on Niraparib for 5 weeks, and have now got an ear infection. My GP has given me penicillin.

I called the chemo hotline and they said I was to stop taking the Niraparib while on antibiotics.

but this was only after I asked the question.

my bloods have been fine, is this the standard procedure??

my mum has no spleen and took antibiotics her whole 11 months on niraparib. It was penicillin x

yes. I was told to stop whilst I had antibiotics as it was for an infection/possible infection. When the detailed urine test came back there was no significant infection and I was allowed to start back on N - only three days off it.

Hi, I had my spleen removed so on penicillin for life and also take Niraparib x

I didn't stop. I was on antibiotic and Olaparib and nothing bad happend. It was because infection of urinal tract.

Hi. Same here. I had sinus infection and was given antibiotics whilst still taking Olaparib. My Onc was happy for me to take antibiotics.

There are many different types of antibiotics and many different types of infections. My advice to you is to listen to your oncologist. I am on Niraparib also. I had a chest infection and was put on ampicillin. I definitely was taken off the medication for 2 weeks. I had a bladder infection several months ago and was on nitrofurantoin and it was not necessary to stop the Niraparib.
