I’ve posted a few times lately but I wanted to update that my poor mum is currently in hospital with a small bowel obstruction. They will not operate. They say they are 100% sure it’s the cancer and that it won’t clear. The CNS says she sees it quite a lot with OC and that it may well clear. She is nil by mouth and a tube up her nose to her stomach. She was feeling very unwell last week but since the tube was put it she feels really well. Very little pain.
Does anyone have any experience of this? Chances of it clearing?
Thanks in advance.

sorry. I’ve only just seen this. I have been hospitalised with small bowel blockage too. It is truly awful and the nasal drain is vile so I am very sorry for her.
Clarify When they mean when they say it is caused by the cancer because in my case it was caused by the scars left by cancer surgery many years ago. They are called adhesions and are the result of scar tissue which can cause the bowel to stick to the abdominal wall. I had a drain, antibiotics, a big clear out medicine that acted as a dye so they could check the bowel under scan and they cleared it. I am now on a low residue diet gradually introducing other foods.
Hi. I have had this, mine was from surgery I had previously. Caused small blockage in small intestine, ended up in the hospital again. I too, nil by mouth, tube stuck up in my nose to drain, it was horrible experience. But eventually cleared. Took about 12days or so, slowly my bowel opened. Not large amount though. Picc line stuck in my arm for IV nutrient. I am currently in the hospital, just had liver surgery where recurred. I am pleased to say, this time my bowel opened, so happy. Hope your mum can open bowel soon. It takes time. But it will come. 🙏 Sending you lots of healing energy 🧡🙏
