Hello lovely ladies. I hope you are all on the sunny side.

Just a quick question. What is the longest you have waited for your CA125 results?

Hi...i used to wait 1 or 2 days and the nurse at my gp surgery would ring me with the result.

Now, post covid, you need to book an appt for the nurse to call you. Last time I waited a week.

It's definitely getting worse then. Even though I'm not expecting anyway bad it's still a worry. x

Hi Zena,

I’m in the states I usually get them within 1-2 days or I can call the Nurse Navigator the next day and she’ll tell me.

Mines been 16 days up to now so was just wondering about others. Usually, it's about 3 days on the NHS App. xx

HI Zena, I’ve got the nhs app so I can see my results as soon as they are added to my record, usually the following day (this only happens when the ca125 test is done at the gp surgery, hospital test results don’t show on the app). BW Linda

Thanks Linda, I've got that app too. I had a test 16 days ago and am still waiting. When I had it done at the hospital it was the next day. xx

hi how do you get the NHS app please ?? thankyou. x

Owenmeany in reply to meaty

hi, Google nhs app and register via your phone, from memory I had to upload some ID and it took a couple of days to connect to my GP record. I did it during covid so it may have been a different process. Well worth doing though as you can see test results and summarised medical history. I hope this helps 😀

Thanks for your reply. I have the NHS app which is usually good. I've phoned the surgery and they haven't had the results yet to add to the app. I think I'll probably have to have another test. It shouldn't take this long. xx

Owenmeany in reply to ZenaJ

hi Zena, it sounds like your results may have gone missing as they are usually available much sooner. I think you should request another test and fingers crossed you’ll get the results and it will be good news, fingers crossed for you🤞BW Linda x

Hi Linda, I phoned the surgery yesterday afternoon and was told by the receptionist that my results are now with the doctor and when they are added to the system I will be able to see them on the NHS app or if showing anything in particular the GP would ring me. I haven't heard anything this morning and it's not on the app as yet. When I finally see my CA125 reading I'll let everyone know.

Thanks for your reply. x

Still not yet but I'm guessing they don't work over the weekend. x

Perhaps the fact that I haven't heard anything is good news because I'm sure if there was anything to worry about he'd have phoned me by now. x

ZenaJ in reply to Owenmeany

No, I check every day. It's been over 4 weeks now. I can't believe the GP is taking this long. I'm sure it is probably still low but I want to know if it's started rising so I can keep my eye on it. Daft really but it's my bugbear. I'll post when I finally get the results and in the meantime, thanks for asking. xx

I usually get mine the following day on the nhs app. They are done at the hospital every 3 weeks

I’m in the US. Mine are on the patient portal 1-2 hours after my blood is collected.

Hi there. My Hospital does mine and can usually supply results either immediately or within two days.

Sure GP surgery would be entirely different though.

My dear Zena we always have something to worry about dont we. Usually mines next day so perhaps you need to have them again. If its my Gp it can take a week. I did give a wee bit of earache on the how did we do text l got from Christie’s last time l.was there dont normally but having to wait 2 & a half hours for a blood test l wasn't on my own me & another lady kept asking are we on the lists but got nowhere. My poor husband was sat waiting in the carpark for me and the the other poor woman's husband was stood outside waiting. Anyhow change of reception and it turned out neither of us were on the lists we were so fed up. So l gave the feedback totally different attitude this time couldnt believe it Mr Grumpy was actually helpful. I also mentioned that l hadn't seen Dr Clamp either and that l.was totally fed up of the situation and guess who rang me the following day with my results . So sometimes it pays to speak up. Im personally sick of ansphones and no one getting back to me . Ask for a new test Zena it really isn't good enough. Big hugs & love SheilaFxxx

Thanks Sheila, Your experience is enough to try the patience of a saint. There's always something. I usually try to give them the benefit of the doubt as mistakes can happen. This time I've decided to give them 3 weeks which I think is more than fair before I start complaining. I'm not over duly worried as I've had such low CA125 results for the last 8 years.

When I was going to hospital the blood test results were there the next day. I guess the urgency has gone now. I was really interested in other ladies experiences and it seems that most are getting their results quickly, which is a good thing. Hope you are keeping as well as possible. Zena x

wow Zena 8yrs that’s fantastic 🤗I thought they stopped blood tests after 5yrs observation 🤔Did you have to request they continue to check your ca125? I’m just over 2yrs & find the results so reassuring 🤞.I’m Suffolk , uk & my results take a week but I’m ok with that although always nervous . Great to hear that you’re so well. Big hugs Dee x

ZenaJ in reply to Mammi

Hi Dee, thanks for answering. After my 5 years I asked my GP if I could have a CA125 test every year for reassurance and he said he gives all his Ovarian Cancer ladies a CA125 every 6 months so I was really pleased to hear that. I'm in Essex, UK so not too far from you.

All the best, Zena xx

Hi Zena

I cant believe you haven’t had your results back there surely must be something wrong. I usually get them back the next day with both the hospital or Doctors. I t is terrible you have had to wait this long. I am always eager to find out results as you feel a sigh of relieve that it stays the same. I would go and have it done again. Good luck x

ZenaJ profile image
ZenaJ in reply to Jingles6

I agree. The idea of six monthly tests is to put my mind at rest. I'm sure they're fine but what's the point if you can't get the results. I went to the surgery on Monday and was told they are still with the doctor. He's had them for three weeks. I said I'd just keep annoying them until I get them. It will be five weeks tomorrow. God help us if we get ill during the winter if they can't deal with a blood test. I'll post when I get it. xx
