Hi can any of you lovely ladies recommend any healthy pre packed meals that can be popped in the microwave- I’m due to start chemo on 29th March, I had ovarian cancer in 2017/2018 and have had a recurrence, knowing what I was like the last time the week after chemo I was absolutely shattered and couldn’t be bothered to cook anything so would just pick and eat rubbish all day long, I don’t want to do this this time round so I’m looking for quick healthy meals that don’t have to be prepared and can be popped in the microwave look forward to hearing from you xx

My go to meal was vegetarian cannelloni..most supermarkets do a ready meal version, it’s easy to eat and not spicy. I sometimes put a bit of salad or even sweetcorn on the side xx
Sorry to hear you have reoccurrence. Just a thought if you maybe have a friend or family members who could do you a batch cook of healthy meals to freeze that couls sunsewuently just be popped in microwave. Or a team effort and do a few each for you. (Get them to very the size toi to take into account poor appetite early days of chemo)You would know exactly what was in them then. Sorry if you find it hard to ask for help or have nobody to help you but it's just a possible suggestion if you do. Xx
Batch cooking is the best option but if you have a Cook near you they’re pretty good as ready meals go. cook food.net I believe they deliver too. Good friends gave us a voucher for them after my 2nd op followed by chemo.

I bought ready meals from COOK frozen ready meals, you can order on line.lots of choices. So easy .
Think M&S do good ready made meals, l did do quite a lot of batch cooking and froze them.Also think Sainsburys are good also. There was only a couple of times in a month when l went off my food really so l was lucky really. But try eating plenty of fresh fish chicken & lots of veg nourishing and soups are great when your not feeling like eating a big meal easy to make and freeze really well. Only times l had a problem was if we ate out and they overfaced me not normally a problem because l always have a decent appetite. Its like you say its having the energy to be bothered isnt it. A large fresh chicken with lots of pulses and tons of veg l used
To make a huge pan full, and still do. Feeze lots of it then add some Turmeric on the day l warm it .Lots of chicken pieces in it barley, lentils veg and some nice
Crusty bread. Good luck with your chemo hope you manage to get some nourishing food in .

So sorry to hear of your reoccurrence. Wishing you the best! I made a big batch of mushroom and lentil soup and then put it in serving sized Tupperware and froze it. I say enough to microwave, and had protein from the lentils and is easy enough to eat. If you like mushrooms. I also did a chicken soup from scratch without rice or noodles because they get soggy and can be added in easily enough. I hope this helps <3
I’m not sure if the meals by the French company Picard are available in the U.K. I sampled many while on holiday at a Paris apartment. They are good considering how fast and easy they are to prepare, and there are many choices. Obviously, some are more healthy than others.
I bought meals from cook and from mindful chef. The cook pots for one are smaller portions and useful for when you can’t face a larger meal. You can get Picard from Ocado. Mindful Chef are gluten and dairy free with no refined carbs. I also bought ‘healthy’ smoothies with vegetables, fruit and carrot with added vitamins, turmeric, ginger etc, sachets of microwave lentils and nice bread.
My Dad said Wiltshire farm foods are really good. He finishes of what my Mum couldn’t manage 😁
Before my surgery i cooked in bulk and divided in Tupperware, of in the freezer, also make sure you have nuts of all kinds that give j you plenty of nutrients and fibre!!! Dry fruit and prunes (again for constipation but plenty of nutrients, as well as dates) and frozen fruit in the freezer, honey rather than sugar, i find very useful to cook big batches of chickpea and lentil curries, make sure you as spinach, freeze them... . My friends were brilliant as well and phone all the time and brought supplies, and CHOCOLATES😎😎😎OMG!... I hope all goes well...

Try Cook. I was like you and couldn't cook much so I started buying them. Their meals are made with lovely ingredients and are deelish.
I swear by M &S ready meals. They do all sorts, calorie controlled, veggie, chinese, indian etc. They arent the cheapest but they are pretty good!
I use All Plants, which are vegan with no chemicals, palm oil and other nasty ingredients which are usually added in ready meals, just in an attempt to have some healthy, animal protein free meals available for days when I don't feel like cooking. I'm obviously not vegan, but am not impressed with the 'extra' additives and ingredients in most ready prepared meals even though they may taste good, so I like to have them in the freezer, with home cooked meals on days when I do want to cook.
Just wanted to say that when I was struggling a bit with choosing healthy food over the chocolates and biscuits that were in the cupboard, I would heat a can of soup (pre-selected some healthy ones that I enjoy) and to make it more like a meal with minimal effort, would add some wholemeal toast and drop a poached egg into the soup. You've gt some great suggestions here. As others have said, I'm really sorry you're going through all this again and hope it goes smoothly for you. Take care xx
