Molecular Profiling

Hi Ladies. Please can you tell me of any companies that test your tumor and match the drugs. I live in the Uk. Finding it difficult to find success stories and specifics. My options are getting fewer. Many thanks.

Foundation One and Sengine Paris Test are the two I’ve heard of . Not got the details but I think they’re on Google. Sengine costs about £3000 I believe. Wishing you the best.

I’ve looked at both of these but they do both seem to be in the USA. I’m going to contact my sisters consultant to get their opinion to see if this is an option in the Uk.

Hi, my wife’s onc used Caris Life Science. She is under the Christie in Manchester. It was a similar price to above. Very detailed report showing what treatment the disease would respond to and also those it wouldn’t. Best of luck 🌼

Hi. My sister is at Christie’s at the moment. This is great news that it’s something they would do. Thank you so much.

My Consultant is testing my biopsy for HRD and other changes to determine the best maintenance treatment, is this the same thing? It's being done on NHS?

Maybe talk to Ovacome ?

Hi, I did Foundation One a few weeks ago, Im in Panamá, same price as UK USD3,350. If it cant be done in UK, they send it to US through a local lab that is how I did it, in the web or your oncologogist, or ovacome could give you reference of a local lab that coordinates the sending of the sample.

I even asked for the sample back to Panamá for further test back here, you should be able to do that too, no extra cost for that.

Best of lucks! And hope the info is helpful.

Regards, Maryluz

I had Caris Life science examine from the original tumor taken from my debulking surgery 3/2018. Then May, 2021 I had biopsy on a cancerous lymph node. That specimen was sent to Perthera Lab (Foundation One). I didn’t pay for either. Both take what they can get from your insurance.

Well I had material from my biopsy tested for HRD on the NHS and it came back positive. As a result I’m currently on Avastin and Olaparib maintenance together. I’ve not heard of molecular profiling. Thank you for raising this. Onwards and upwards. X

My sister did some research into tumour analysis (she is based in Scotland). She decided to go with DATAR Cancer Genetics who are based in UK, Germany and India. We understand that Dr Nina Fuller of Synthesis Clinic in Sussex uses DATAR. We are currently waiting for results.

Thanks sister support. I’m in Scotland also. Has it been of benefit to your sister? Do you have any more info from the result?

Hi I used oncologica in Cambridge a brilliant service which enabled me to get on a trial and has given me 3 extra years so far. Can't recommend highly I think it should be part of standard care if it was done when I was diagnosed I wouldn't of had to go through 2 different lots of chemotherapy.

Hi everyone

Following on from last week’s conversation about molecular profiling, I hope the information below may be of interest for some of you.

Molecular diagnostic tests are used to analyse cancer cells, and the information generated may help determine whether a person may benefit from certain treatments.

In the management of high grade serous ovarian cancer in the UK, the molecular tests carried out are to detect BRCA gene changes, Lynch Syndrome and HRD (Homologous Recombination Deficiency). Our friends at Ovarian Cancer Action have a hereditary hub which has lots of information on BRCA and Lynch Syndrome that may be relevant to your questions: ovarian.org.uk/ovarian-canc... . If you would like more information about HRD, please see this recent webinar that we held at Ovacome with Dr Rowan Miller: youtube.com/watch?v=dcNRNU6... .

In the UK, the NHS does not routinely fund full genetic profiling to look at other genetic or molecular variations that people may have. This is because there is currently not enough evidence to suggest that further genetic profiling would influence treatment options.

However, this may differ in the context of clinical trials. There are clinical trials that investigate the impact of various genetic and cellular changes and how these may affect clinical effectiveness of different treatments. The necessary molecular testing would be undertaken as part of each trial. To learn more about clinical trials, please visit: cancerresearchuk.org/about-... .

If you would like to learn more about molecular or genetic profiling in the context of your own individual situation, please speak with a member of your clinical team who may be able to offer personalised advice and guidance on this complex topic. Whilst there may be companies who offer this privately, we don’t recommend any particular services or practitioners. We recognise that this is a personal issue and encourage awareness that additional molecular profiling may not influence treatment availability or clinical recommendations.

I hope this information is helpful. Please don’t hesitate to call our support line on 0800 008 7054 or 07503 682 311 if you would like to talk through this information, or have further questions that we may be able to assist with. We’re here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.

Best wishes

Annie
