After my third cycle on Carbo/caelyx, my side effects worsened to include pain in stomach, sometimes debilitating. They got even worse after 4th cycle. Now I am having trouble with my oesophagus. It is difficult to swallow anything even water. This morning my medications got stuck & it took a lot of swallowing to get them down & was quite painful. There is also so much wind all the time. I can feel it passing through my whole digestive system. I've lost weight and am worried that I'm dehydrated (lucky to get down 1 glass of water a day). If this is normal then I will cope but I'm worried it's something else. I have a zoom meeting with my oncologist on Wednesday. Any help/support would be appreciated at this stage. Thankyou lovely people.

Eating/Drinking problem

Aw that sounds absolutely awful and good that you have a zoom follow up arranged xx but if its that bad though you should contact your support team or your GP today and let them know your symptoms x it could be something easily sorted like stomach acid causing it. I used to get get very severe acid from the steroids they give you at chemo and had to get some lansoprazole to help. The last thing they will want is you getting dehydrated so dont sit on this you are not being a nuisance xxx
Good luck

I’m so sorry you are having such an awful time on this treatment. Whilst we all expect some side effects I’m not sure yours are normal and you are probably at high risk of dehydration if it continues. So my advice would be not to wait and contact your CNS. It’s amazing the number of different meds available to help resolve these issues and I’m sure they’ll be able to help. Good luck and take care

Hi AuntyOrange
Thank you for your post. I’m so sorry to hear about the difficult symptoms you’re experiencing after your third and fourth cycles of chemotherapy. I can see you’ve had some replies from the supportive forum community and I just wanted to echo what Bettyxxx and Litchick have suggested above. A conversation with your clinical nurse specialist or member of your medical team at the hospital may be able to explain the cause of your symptoms, as well as offer personalised guidance to help alleviate the pain you’re experiencing and lessen the other side effects you describe.
If you would like to talk things through with a member of our support team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Thank you so much Annie. I am going to see GP today & oncologist tomorrow. Hopefully they will have some answers for me. I am in Australia so can I still use that 0800 number? I am so glad to have found this site. I couldn't find anything similar in Oz. So thank you again. xxxxxx
Hello AuntyOrange,
Thank you very much for your message. You can call our 0800 008 7054 number from Australia, but it may incur a cost. In order to do this, you would need to dial +44 800 008 7054. Alternatively, we would be very happy to arrange a Whatsapp call or a Zoom video call instead. If you would like us to arrange this, please send us a private message on the forum or email us at support@ovacome.org.uk. All of our support services are available 10am – 5pm UK time.
I also wanted to let you know about an ovarian cancer charity that is based in Australia called Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Here is a link to their website: ocrf.com.au/ . They have information about support services in Australia.
I hope that that information is helpful. Please do let me know if you would like me to arrange a call.
Best wishes,
Cathryn

Consult asap. Thus is not normal.
I was on Carbo taxol and a few other chemo’s and did not have anything near your severe side effects. I am so sorry. It’s really important that you talk to your doc. You’ve gotta stay nourished.
