Dr Mark Porter has written a good article on ovarian cancer in today’s Times. Most of what he says we will know but it is good that it is out there for others.

I read it as I was having my chemo today. You are right. Most of us on here will sadly have first hand knowledge of the subject. Let us hope though, that is has an awareness-raising value so that more people and particularly GP’s become better informed ,recognise the symptoms that could be OC and act accordingly, in a timely manner.Meanwhile, wishing you and all the Teal ladies, strength, love and blessings .

Particularly interesting to me as I am a patient at this practice.I had to go to A&E for my diagnosis as my OC wasn't diagnosed at the GPs despite being told by doctor that I looked 9 months pregnant (due to swelling) and was in extreme pain.
Has anyone got the link to this article please?
A lot of us were missed by GPs. In my case the GP, the gynaecologist and ultrasound all missed it. When I finally got a CT the consultant was fascinated by them and whether they were ovarian or colon related. The fact that I had ascites like you and couldn’t get off the couch without his help passed him by! Thank heavens for the palliative team who are much more holistic and centred on me and not the disease. This is the link.

Being the times they might charge.
Thanks for posting. If anyone can't get into the article and wants to, I have copied text into a Word file. Let me know if you need it.I read the comments as well and they're more interesting. I'm not sure how helpful it is to say 'survival rates almost doubling in the UK over the past 40 years' as that could be from 5% to 10%. What's apparent from the comments is that GPs used to refer more frequently.
I can well believe 'the UK sits at the bottom of the European league table, alongside Bulgaria and just below Estonia and Slovakia.' Shameful.
