hi all, I have been on olaparib for 1 year now and have been getting really bad pains in my joints, mainly hands and knees. I have been tested for rhuematoid arthritis but that was clear. I am wondering if the joint pain could be related to olaparib as the times match and I also fell over last summer and really hurt my hands. Im hoping that this isnt going to be a long term pain thing. Regards to all, Deb

joint pain and olaparib
I've been on Olaparib for 18 months and I too have joint pain. Mostly knees, elbows and back pain. My knees swell too! I'm convinced it's due to the Olaprib. I did have chemo and avastin to start with and I think their side effects can include joint pain.
My pain does seem better some months than others and the elbow pain has almost settled now.
I take glucosamine and regular brufen...whether that helps I'm not really sure.
I'm dreading the 2 year mark when my Olaprib will probably be stopped (I was newly diagnosed when I started it) but the silver lining will I hope be a settling of the joint pain.
All the very best to you.

HI LIZ,
I HAVEN'T HAD JOINT PAIN AND HAVEN'T HEARD MUCH ABOUT THAT FROM OTHERS. I FIND FATIGUE AND DIZZINESS, STOMACH ISSUES AND THINNING OF MY SKIN THE MAIN PROBLEMS I HAVE... WE ALL HAVE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH BUT THE BENEFITS ARE PROBABLY WORTH IT. MANY PEOPLE STAY ON IT LONGER THAN TWO YEARS. YOUR DOCTOR CAN PRESCRIBE IT. I'M NOT IN A TRIAL. I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER. VOLTAREN OINTMENT IS GOOD IN A PRESCRIPTION STRENGTH!
FEEL GOOD!

Hi. Joint pain is a side effect of Olaparib. I have it too. It’s gotten better over time for me except in my hands, specifically my thumbs. It’s surprising how such a small thing can affect your life! Xx
