Hi all,

I had a CA 125 blood test on Friday my level has come back at 86 my GP isn't due to talk to me till Monday 29th, of cause I googled and have now scared myself.

I have bloating, passing urine more often and backache.

Not sure if I should try and speak to the GP before the 29th .

Hello BrandysnapsSorry to hear you are worrying about this result. CA125 can be raised for many innocent reasons and we quite often get ladies like yourself who have a raised result and nothing untoward is found. Having said that this is slightly raised result and you have symptoms which should trigger an urgent ultrasound, in line with ‘NICE’ guidance if you are in the UK.

I would definitely ring the gp back and make sure that is happening.

Good luck and I sincerely hope its nothing to worry about

Diane

Xx

Contact your GP asap about this, insist its an emergency with the reception staff, be persistent, don't get off the phone, be annoying if you have to, keep ringing back all the time if necessary, even do an e-consult if they have that, because they usually get back to you within a day or three with those if you ring the alarm bells loud enough by saying the right thing. Don't be scared of making yourself unpopular - this is not a popularity contest, it doesn't matter what they think, you can always apologise later if it turns out to be nothing. Then tell him you want a scan as soon as possible - what you've described is what happened to me back in 2017. I had no obvious symptoms other than a very large lymph node in my groin - my CA125 was 91, falling to 86 with a repeat test two weeks later. But it was OC, and it turned out to be Stage 4b, thus proving we don't all have a CA125 in the order of hundreds with OC, even at very late stage. The fact you also have bloating and other symptoms means he should fast track you, just in case it is OC. I have to say my GP, back then, responded well, but the hospital dragged their feet, took them nearly 3 months to diagnose from a biopsy (having had a US and CT scan) and I only got the diagnosis then because I wrote to PALS and threatened to sue if it was cancer.

Hopefully its not cancer, its irritable bowel or something, but get on the case with the GP anyway, and good luck.

Well I'm still here, which is a surprise to me - but don't just ask,be insistent if you have to be...🤞 If that doesn't work, to be honest, I'd refuse to leave until they gave me an appointment, phone or otherwise...

Hello all,First off I want to thank you ladies for your support, I spoke to my doctor yesterday when I went for a b12 injection it turns out the receptionist had mixed my ca125 test results up with my diabetic blood results.

My Ca125 is actually only 9 with no further action needed it was my diabetic bloods at 86.

I feel so relieved, upset and confused but I also feel guilty knowing you ladies are having treatment.

They are looking into the mix up it scared the life out of me.

I wish each of you the best of luck and again thank you for your support x

Phew, what a relief! Dreadful mistake on the part of the receptionist though, all that unnecessary worry...but they have little or no medical training of course. Even so, she needs a bit of swift instruction for the future - they do make mistakes like this, its happened to me twice, but luckily, not with things that might have been life threatening or scary; one was they just did not understand the difference between blood tests that needed repeating, mixing up two that began with the letter C, and passing me on to urology when it should have been neurology. Not scary at all, just irritating .... pleased you don't have to worry😃
