Rucaparib (again!)

I have written previously about starting Rubraca, and now want to know how long it as before the side effects started.

I have been On it a week now, and so far nothing! I am feeling good, but expect that once the drug starts affecting my bloods, liver et c everything will kick in.

I have a blood test on Sunday, then every fortnight, so fingers crossed my body can cope.

There’s nothing says you’ll have side effects. As for bloods mine have been fine on Olaparib—two thirds the full dose. I did have mild nausea and not so mild fatigue but eventually got over them most of the time. You may be lucky!

Rubraca is supposed to have less side effects than the other parps, so perhaps we will be lucky.

Hi... to be honest you may be lucky..... I have been on Olaparib for over 7 years on full dose and it's more or less been fine from day one. I do get mild nausea from time to time and some bowel issues which I deal with and know what food makes a difference but other than that all good. Let's hope you get on fine, after all we are all different and react differently! Kathy xx

That sounds good to me. You are one of the few I have heard about who have stayed on the full dose

Hi Jenny all i can say is that I know a few ladies whom are on the full dose 1200mg per day and doing very well. This was not the case for me and my bloods (platelets and hemaglobin) not good and i have felt so unwell on it and had to drop dosage twice, and next week hopefully when my bloods have recovered can go back on but with lower dose of 600mg per day. BUT you may not have any of these issues, fingers crossed you will do well. We all react differently to chemo/parbs. Good Luck.x

Thanks. From what I read, a low dose seems to work as well as the higher dose. Hopefully I will do ok on 1200 a day, or lower, just as long as bloods et c hold up.
