Just finished with Oncology appointment after my first month on. My dosage was 200mgs per day, which I take in the morning.
Saw assistant consultant named Claire.
She was fine and I finally found out what a Registrar was - a doctor who is training to be a consultant.
Anyway, it was All good. Blood counts phenomenal. Totally in the normal range.
CA-125 stable at 15. The same as end of Carbo/Caelyx, but higher than after first line.
I am not disappointed.
It’s early days and amazing that I feel so well!
Meanwhile, I now only need bloods taken once a month and a scan will be every three months.
I have no unmanageable side effects to report. I get slight nausea in the morning, but I still have an enormous appetite! Darn! In my case, as I have gained too much weight for my liking, but always feel the urge to treat myself to goodies that were forbidden before I got sick. Oh well.. the least of our worries.
I feel like my old self, not the new normal I was at the end of first line.
Fingers crossed I stay this well.
Hope all of you are getting good treatment and that you all feel better, too.
Hugs,
Laura

Excellent news, long may it stay this way for you. We’ve all had the rudest wake up call possible by this awful disease so if you enjoy treats carry on enjoying, live to eat, good stuff of course and enjoy the ride. I smell the coffee and the flowers each day and I put as much into life as I possibly can, none of us know how much life we have so we need to enjoy it as much as we possibly can so keep on keeping on lovely. Congrats on feeling so well. Love and hugs ❤️Xx Jane
That is great news and you deserve many good things to feel well as you always reply to people when they are low or vulnerable. You are so reassuring and positive, you are an asset to this lovely group. I don't post often but read how people are getting on. I will be getting another scan in 2 weeks to see if my chemo has worked and I am fit for de=bulking (talk about being between a rock and a hard place! who celebrates being fit for a big op!!) As always I am grateful for your thoughtful and wise responses and am so glad you are such a strong force in this group. All the best for continuing to feel good. thank you.
Hello Laura, its good to hear your wonderful news & I’m so pleased for you. I have noticed how supportive you are of other Teal sisters on here and I’m sure we are all wishing you continued good health. Go girl!
I am so happy to hear this news, Laura! You are doing so well, and it’s great that you’re feeling like your old self 💕 I think that’s what we all are aiming for! 😊
Its so good to hear your news as your story is so similar to my mum's and you give me lots of hope! Would you mind if I send you a pm so you can explain more about the niraparib as I'm trying to look at what's available to mum after her chemo finishes?
I just hope that the Niraparib will keep us both stable.
By the way, I went back to taking an Omeprazole and a Cyclozine an hour before taking the Niraparib, just avert possible nausea which does come on now and then.
I take the PARP in the morning.
I keep Cyclizine and Omeprazole on me all the time.
I dropped omeprazole for rainitidine but still use cyclizine occasionally, especially if I am going out. Difficult choice cos feeling of nausea seems to be permanent
Enjoying the mild weather and getting out into the garden
Am really pleased to hear you are doing so well on this. I see you are from Bath (same as me) so I guess you are under the care of Dr B. She said to me if I have a good response to Caelyx and Carbo then I could go on Niraparib at the end of the chemo. What did she class as a good response? I have had 4 out of 6 and am due my 5th round next Tuesday. I am seeing consultant tomorrow so I will ask about CA125 as so far it has just been stable (which Dr B has been happy with). Any advice really appreciated!

I am so happy for you that it’s working as I know it doesn’t for everyone. We are lucky that we’re responding to this part. You feel like a different person and alive. I’ve just been to New York with my lovely family and had a fabulous time making lovely memories spending quality time together. Never thought I’d be here this time last year. I’m sure you feel like a million dollars. All the very best wishes to you lovely lady 💐🌸🌞🌺 Margot 🙋
