Dear Morag,

What terrible news!

So that last trial did not work.

Sadly, several ladies on here have had brain mets and have reported that treatment seems to be working.

Hopefully, they will write to you about their experience and their particular treatment.

I know one had surgery with something I think was called a laser knife.

I’m pretty sure another is on Caelyx.

I certainly hope you get some answers and can have the best treatment possible.

Best wishes,

Laura

Thank you Seeing my consultant next week. She is saying depending on how I feel they would consider more chemo. Morag

Hi Morag,

I was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer almost 5 years ago. I had extensive operation ,2 lines of chemo followed by parp inhibitor. Last November I was told it spread to my brain. Almost immediately I received another chemo, this time carbo/caelyx . As this chemo is the slow release one I was also given steroids for a month. The chemo was every 28 days for six month. I had CT and MRI scan after my third infusion and the results at that stage were very encouraging. However after my last chemo my CA125 went up slightly and I am having CT and MRI scans next week.

I have been told that there is a possibility to participate in PARP inhibitor immunotherapy study but they need to see the results for my scans before any decisions.

I asked if there are any other treatments available . In some cases they do radiotherapy but this is very harsh and difficult treatment if there are multiple metastasis. I am due to see my oncologist on the 23rd of this month when I will find out more.

If you want please write to me. I know it’s terrifing news and we need multiple support.

All the very best.Liz

Thankyou so much for replying. There are multiple nodules so they are ruling out surgery. Feeling very unsteady and dizzy. Morag

Dear Morag, I had tears in my eyes when I read your post. I am so sorry to hear it has come to this for you. Unfortunately I have not reached this stage myself. All I can say is that I know steroids do reduce the swelling on the brain so that is good. I pray it works for you and anything else they try on you.

Keep fighting the damn awful disease it is so unfair in today’s healthcare we have not found something which works on OC. Kicks it’s arse Morag.

Sending you and your family lots of love 💕 hugs 🤗 and lots of strength and positivity.

Dearest - I am also on steroids making me feel very unstable wobbly etc. but they do apparently dampen down inflammation. I am on a trial butnot have spread to brain as you do so no comparisons just hoping the steroids do their role for us both.. and really hope you do well in this next stage : chemo or gamma knife?? Good luck and my heart is with you ❤️

Hi. I have no knowledge to contribute but just want to express support for the situation you’re in. It sounds like you’ve tolerated a lot of chemo and it’s kept you alive all these years. I hope you get a treatment that works and gives you quality of life.🌺💐🌸
