Wondering if anyone out there has found a solution or at least some help with the awlful joint pain one suffers when on parlitaxel - suffered very badly the first time around and am now on my second round as you might say and am beginning to feel the joints rebelling.

Hi Shorty,

I always find Epsom salt baths help to soothe joint pain from chemo. You need to use at least two big scoops in the water (not a little sprinkle!) and soak for about 20 mins. If you don’t have a bath, even putting some in a bowl of water and soaking your feet in it can help.

I get through so much Epsom salt nowadays that I order it in bulk from a garden supplies company!

Warmth & Paracetamol plus rubbing gels (with no drugs in), like menthol etc. that makes the joints ‘feel’ warm xx

Talk to your medical team. I was prescribed morphine for the pain I got during first line treatment. They eventually dropped the dose because I was getting too much neuropathy in my feet. That solved the problem-I wish I'd let them lower the dose earlier!

I'm currently on second line treatment which is carboplatin only and I'm getting no pain so far.

It's also worth checking with your oncologist before taking supplements. Some of them interfere with chemo.
