Poor registrar really didn’t want to go to work yesterday....

Hi lovelies,

Long story short my special person has been in hospital since Christmas Eve.....

Day before yesterday I went on a hunt for her oncologist to see what exactly was happening found Dr Eye Candy 😍 who phoned her lead consultant for me 😊.

Yesterday the registrar saw her in the morning and said you’re going home today you should have been gone after the drain... she’s like ok and phoned me, the registrar came back with her release papers and spoke to me, giving me the I’m the doctor I know best attitude (bad idea).....

The phone call......

Doctor “Hello how can I help?”

Me “I believe you’re sending my special person home?”

Doc “yes that’s right”

Me “no that’s not right”

Doc “what do you mean?”

Me “I spoke to one of Clare’s Doctors yesterday (Clare is her lead consultant) who phoned Clare for me and relayed a message from Clare which was my special person is now in for pain management and will be having a scan if the pain doesn’t get sorted”

Doc (sheepishly) “oh yes I see on her notes this is the plan of action, do you want me to order the scan?

Me “yes, also has a CA125 been done? I know at the beginning of December it was 280”

Doc “ok I’ll book that for you and check the CA125, it’s 280 at the beginning of December”

Me “yes I know that I just told you that I want to know what it is now”

Doc “We don’t do a CA125 unless requested”

Me “I’m requesting it!”

Doc “ok, have you been told the pros and cons of a CA125?”

Me “yes, for my special person it’s a good marker”

Doc “ok I’ll get that done for you”

After the phone call my special person phoned me back and said the doc left the room when he came back in he was bright red with tears in his eyes like he’d just been told off by his mother!

I go up the hospital later and start chasing things up nurses are avoiding me at all costs....

Today CA125 is 220 😊 and scan tomorrow morning!

The moral of this story don’t muck me about if you’re gonna say it’s gonna be done I want it done yesterday 😂 xxx

The photo is what the doctor went from to 😂🤣😂 xx

That is dreadful but I suppose the reg was on call all over the hospital and didn't check the notes beside him. We do have to speak up at times and you were perfectly right

The reg was the on call this weekend but I believe it was just for the oncology department. I can’t help it I always speak first then ask questions later 😊 I also know Clare will be annoyed with him though because Clare really likes my special person and every time her cancer returns she’s genuinely annoyed and upset xxx

Hi, Your special person is lucky to have you at her back ,I hope all goes well and the pain can be managed and she is home soon , my last 125 test was over 2000 that was about 4 month ago so I don;t know wont it is now be course I'm under palliative care they just help you control the pain and I can at the moment Take care of you both love Lorraine xx

Hi my lovely,

Pleased your pain is under control, to an extent I didn’t want to know her CA125 but for the moment it’s important as to see what the next course of treatment is. We think of you often and she asks how everyone is, especially those she knows xxx

I'm in the states and wanted to keep a list of mistakes that I caught (before they happened and some I didn't). My first oncologist took me off blood thinners after the hospital said I had to stay on them due to my late stage. She said I was physically active so no need. I ended up with two giant clots in two separate lobes of my lungs. Another time I told that oncologist I didn't feel well for over a week--and I mean bad diarrhea, nausea, could not eat, and she kept saying I was just nervous. Finally I called because I couldn't take it anymore---she was on vacation and another oncologist listened to my symptoms and told me to get there within the hour. Turns out I had a bad case of C-diff which could have killed me. So yeah--I hear you and I would KEEP vigilent!!! We and our partners, caregivers know A LOT! Love the photo too! I hope your special person can come home soon. oxoxo

Wow, you’ve really been through it by the sounds of it! I hope everything is under control now? Some people are just idiots and sometimes they need calling out, it’s just the communication that is dire and annoying as one person can’t sign something and doesn’t communicate with the nurses xxx

We all need something somebody like you on our side, although we shouldn’t need to check everything.

Best wishes to you both.

Communication is usually the key but they seem to have lost it at her hospital oh well she’s seeing her consultant tomorrow so we can only hope it all gets sorted properly! Xxx
