Hi Dollie

I was diagnosed in September 2016 with stage 3c high grade serous with a Ca125 of 9600 which went up to 10400 when I started treatment (quite normal to rise at that point apparently) I had carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin then debulking then more chemo until May 2017. I continued Avastin until October 2017. My Ca125 is now 23.

When I was first diagnosed my oncologist told me that I had a life expectancy of 4 and a half months if I did nothing but that this could increase into years with chemo and surgery. I'm not sure if you would consider me to be a long term survivor yet but I am very grateful to be doing so well. At diagnosis I really didn't think that I was going to be around for very long. With the support of the wonderful ladies in this group I have learned so much more about OC and feel far more positive about life in general.

I always said that cancer could take my hair but it wasn't going to get my sense of humour. It is important to Just enjoy life however long we end up having. Prioritise the things that give you the most joy and don't waste time and energy on negative people.

There are a few of us!! Diagnosed October 2012, two lots of surgery because first surgeon missed tumour on omentum and then chemo. Re-acted to Paclitaxol and managed 5 out of 6 Carboplatin. Only had 5 as my blood count always dropped so much that my risk of infection was too great to continue. Despite not quite finishing the course, I am coming up to the magic 5 year mark. Strangely, I am more anxious about this milestone than any of my other check ups. Still have days when I feel yucky and think maybe it’s back but then I feel ok again so carry on. Guess it will always be like this but as long as the beast stays away, I can live with it. I wish for a long remission for you and everyone on this site. Xx
