Hi. I'm hoping to go to Athens in October. Does anyone know if it is OK to take Oramorph in hand luggage or not? Do I need letters or prescriptions from the hospital or my GP?

Flying to Athens - need to take Oromorph
Hi You will definitely need to take a letter from your oncologist or GP and if it’s liquid and over 100mls you may need to place it in hold luggage. You may also need to inform the airline as It’s classed as a controlled drug so taking it across borders is strictly monitored x
Hope this helps but best to ring and chat to customer services before you go
I love Athens have a great trip xx
Standard Oramorph is NOT a controlled drug in this country. It is. Prescription only drug. It is only 10mg/ml of morphine. It has to be 13mg per ml to be classed as a controlled drug in this country but other countries may be different. Many people assumed just because it contains morphine that it must be a controlled drug. Only the Oramorph Concentrate is a controlled drug. It will need original pharmacy labels as well. So if labels are on the box rather than on the bottle remember to either take the box or transfer labels to the bottle. In any case it is best to check with the airline and the destination country rules.

Yes MH,
Just as BeeWild says, there are strict regulations for these (controlled) drugs. Her advice is spot-on.
Have a great holiday!

Check with the airline and Greek entry requirements as actually not a controlled drug in this country (see my reply above for specific details) but maybe different in Greece.
Have a fab holiday.

I took it to the USA and never had a problem.
