Round three.

Suzanne333 profile image
39 Replies

Here we go again. Only finished second line end of Feb this year and my CA125 reads 1,750. Back on the chemo again. They need to scan first to see what’s going on. Nurse said if fluid gets bad then I can go and have it drained. It’s not that bad at the moment.

I’m more bothered about my bloody tooth. It’s throbbing. Dentist in an hour. Hope he pulls it out.

What a horrible merry go round I’m on. Xxxx

Yes. Here’s hoping we both get a long remission. I’d like a year where I don’t have to think about it. Big hugs to you xxx

A half a year would be nice too. I recently found out two different friends are battling cancer also. One has lung cancer that has spread to her lymph node‘s. The other has a mass in her colon. I went to pick her up from her colonoscopy and the doctor was there. She is hard of hearing and the doctor repeated something she did not understand and he said “your friend will explain it to you” Thanks for that doc! She is a super intelligent 83 yearold and she may decide to do nothing. I’m hurting for both of my friends. Meanwhile I’m waiting for the first round of Doxil (Caelyn) to start reducing my stupid fluids. Nurse said it could be 3 rounds before that happens. Markers were at 853 May 21st. I hope you are being strong and feeling good.

I am sorry to see your news. I too finished a second round in mid Feb. and my markers on April 20 were back to 438 and then 625 on May 4th. I have an appointment with a doc on May 21 who does HIPEC. Then my regular oncologist on the 24th (who is not optimistic) we shall see. I’m trying to stay positive with supplements from a great nutritionist. I’m fighting this primary peritoneal ca with everything I can. Stay strong dear lady.

Sorry to hear this Suzanne, you must be feeling so disappointed but it sounds like your team are on the case and being proactive, and I’m sure they’ll get you on an effective treatment very soon.

You can get through this, I know it must be hard but you seem like a tough lady. Stay strong and know that all the ladies on here are behind you all the way, big hugs and keep us posted 💕

Hi Liz.

Thank you. I’ll be ok. I’m ready for another round. Just been to dentist and he took out a nerve. I think my recent toothache has been quite a distraction from the horrible cancer.

I hope you are ok.

I will start chemo nextweek for 2nd line treatment. I hope and pray it will be the same as last time as it's the same drugs . Carbo/taxol. I was fine with hardly any nasty side effects! Take care ad sending you hugs! 😘

Oh c**p Suzanne, so sorry to see your update. But you have the right attitude, you’ll take it on again and get through this. If you have ascites it can make you feel and be sick - I could hardly eat before my drain in February, the difference after was immediate and such a huge relief. I think mine was left too long before drained - 6.5 ltrs came out! - so don’t let them leave you too long. Though chemo can also reduce ascites so perhaps they want to see if that works first.

You’re right it is a merry go round, one we’d all like to get off and forget about for a good long while! But we are stuck with it so we just have to do our best. What chemo will you be on this time? Keep up the treats and good times meanwhile, lots of hugs to you

Madeline xxx

Suzanne333 profile image
Suzanne333 in reply toHertsmum

Hi Madeline.

Yes the ascites is horrible. The relief is great though. Before first line I had 9 and a half litres drained then three weeks later 5 and a half so it certainly does build up quickly. On second line, the chemo zapped the ascites. I don’t think I’ve got much at the moment but it’s certsinly affecting my tummy. I did manage to eat a yoghurt and beans (not together) last night without bringing it up. Got scan Saturday. Don’t mind scans, just don’t like getting results.

I hope you are doing ok. Sending you a big hug xxxx

So sorry it may be back so soon. My wife is also called Suzanne and has had three lines of chemo now since original diagnosis in 2013. The chemo, although not quite up there with prosecco, is good stuff and should do the job and kill off the cancer. Suzanne finished 3rd line in September 2017 and started olaparib October 2017 - so far, so good. Wishing you all the best.

Suzanne333 profile image
Suzanne333 in reply toWoodyB

Hello woody.

I’m glad your wife is doing well on olaparib. I’ve heard it really does the job. My consultant is very keen on it.

I wish prosecco was chemo. I’d be quite happy having treatment.

Thank you for your message and good wishes.

I hope your wife has many many years in remission. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you so much for your kindness when you're having all this to go through. You write such nice messages to everyone - you sound a lovely lass just like "my" Suzanne. In fact, you seem to have lots in common. My Suzanne is a retired primary school teacher, has BRCA2, loves prosecco and afternoon tea with her mates.... Your consultant sounds excellent so I think you're in very good hands. If you do have to have more chemo I think you'll qualify for NICE funded olaparib once you finish the chemo, provided you're platinum sensitive.

My Suzanne won't look at this site, says there's too much bad news, so I really hope you prove her wrong. When do you have your scan? The waiting is the worst so hope it's soon. Very best wishes to you and your partner.

Suzanne333 profile image
Suzanne333 in reply toWoodyB

Hi woody.

I’ve got my scan on Saturday. I don’t mind scans. Just dread the results.

I can’t have olaparib as I can’t have carbo anymore as I had an anaphylactic shock with it but my consultant says I can have niraparib.

I agree with your wife that there is sometimes bad news on here but there’s also so much support and information and hope too.

Your wife loves prosecco? She’s my friend already.

Hoping she’s doing ok and yourself.

Best wishes to you both.

Oh Suzanne--I just woke up to your post and am so sorry! And the tooth pain--been there (during chemo even as I had to) and you're right--that was kind of a mental break but still. Hoping they figure out the right chemo combination to take it all away and to a longer remission. Wonder if you could ask about PARPs for treatment--not sure its an option but I am sure you are getting your list of questions together--why not add that one (not sure it deals with the fluid build up). Thinking of you!!!! oxoxox Judy

Suzanne333 profile image
Suzanne333 in reply toMaxjor

Hi Judy.

Ahh thank you. They’ll decide on treatment when they’ve seen the scan. I’m hoping for a longer remission next time. My consultant mentioned niraparib. I’m hoping I can have that. I’ve heard it’s good.

I hope you are doing ok. Hugs xxx

Hi Pam. It is. Nasty gift we don’t want but it doesn’t get the message.

I’ve got my fighting pants on. I’ve had a rough week and had a huge meltdown yesterday. My partner is abroad for work all this week and I’ve been dealing with an aching tooth, being sick and told I’m recurring. I needed him here and I couldn’t get hold of him fir many hours. I went to pieces. I’m ok now.

I hope you’re doing ok. Big hugs xxxx

Hi Sophia.

I’m usually positive. I did have a melt down yesterday morning. I think everything just built up. I feel better today. Back hurts but that’s fluid doing that.

I’m definitely hoping I get the niraparib. Consultant seems positive.

I hope you’re doing ok.
