Talc powder and OC
hi, I have read about if talc can course cancer , Ive never used it but I did read about a lady in UK who was trying to sue a talc company, as she feels that is how she got cancer, think this would be a hard case to prove, just look at the different life styles of ovarian cancer patents.
I never smoked ,drink had a reasonable diet worked all my life until I was diagnosed,
thought I would be a little old lady digging in her garden at 80.
I did read this it may be of interest to you, I'm sure the other ladies will give you their experiences,
Take care Lorraine xx

Thanks for sharing this. So many of us grew up with baby powder and later used talc between the legs as part of feminine hygiene. We had no idea of the risks.
Hi,
The scientific jury seems to be out on this one but I'd always suspected talc might have been the cause of my OC. Finding myself as a slim, fit and active young mum at 34 with this dreadful disease like everyone with the same diagnosis I wondered how on earth.....? Of course, it was probably sheer bad luck and due to a combination of factors yet to be determined. But, like all 50's babies I was talcum powered and I used it copiously as a teenager. You do wonder don't you. A nice cheque from Johnson's would be lovely😂!
Hi Unlockes, I think the Macmillan or CR site may have something on this. I think the verdict is no proof. But it seems that inflammation isn't good & maybe the talc particles can irritate our genital tract?? I was instructed my my mum to use it daily!!! Lx
Talc used to contain asbestos particles, definitely when I was born in the 1960's my Mum used it all the time, Johnson and Johnson faced a massive court case for people born in the 50's and 60's who now have OC, it has been mentioned in the press a lot over the years as talc can travel into the ovaries. So yes I'd say potential. The trouble is these cases take years to take to court and many do not live long enough to pursue it

In the US there is a big class action going on re talc. In order to qualify you have to have access to the original tumour in order for further testing to see if there is talc present. Difficulties in proving that talc was used and whose brand of talc used. I think there is an appeal going on by J &J after a substantial award was given on court.
