Does anyone use a MEK inhibitor for low grade? My mum's consultant is really keen for Mum to start a MEK trial (if one comes up that she is eligible for), but I wondered if there was one already on the market which is routinely used?
Thank you

Hi There is a current MEK inhibitor phase 2/3 trial, it closes in Dec. The last trial kept 65% stable & regression in 15%. The way the trial was set up meant that that one didn’t get
licensed. there’s a new one lead by prof g in Edinburgh and prof g in Texas. Many cancer centres are recruiting. Hope this helps
Thanks for your reply. Mum was initially screened for that trial (I think you may be referring to the LOGS trial) but the pathology could not agree as to whether Mum's cancer is low grade or not! We were so hugely disapppointed by that - its frustrating that people can get their hopes up and dashed so cruelly.
We are under the Marsden and they have referred us to their Early Drug Development Centre as they are hoping there will be a MEK trial coming up soon. We don't want to get our hopes up again.
Yes. I was referring to LOGS. I have an idea-Caris tumour profiling of tissue fm IDS or latest biopsy. May suggest potl targets against the tumour. For me an agent licensed against a specific mutation rather than LGSOC. Worth a go if pathology not clear
Thanks for this. Mum's biopsy (taken a year ago when they were considering her for the LOGS trial) is currently being analysed for, I believe, 'its molecular structure'. Think I have that right. We get the results - or feedback from the Drug Development team this Wednesday.
The cancer is definitely low grade. Mum was diagnosed 7 years ago this month and the tumours are extremely slow growing.
I went on letrozol for about 5 months, and it slowed my growth down in general, but then just one of my tumours started growing quite fast and behaving differently to all rest bits. I even had a biopsy to check it was same cancer and it was still low grade serous. I then had to have chemo carbo caelyx, I got shrinkage of fast growing area and a couple of other areas and rest stable. I finished about 3 months ago and had good drop in ca125 since end of treatment. Unfortunately though ascites has come back so just awaiting scan after I’ve had drain.
Mum was on Letrozole for 5 years, then nearly a year of tamoxifen. Then one site started to grow - 1cm between May and August. She came off the tamoxifen and it's grown 2mm since! They said no chemo yet though.
Glad to hear you have had a response though to the chemo - although not so great about the ascites. Sorry to hear that.
Hi I have been on the LOGS trial since February 2017. I have blogged about my experiences if you read through my posts. I recently had my dose reduced because of some changes to my heart output.
I have had some shrinkage but overall my cancer has stabilised. I am due my next CT scan this week and should get the results next week.
