Good morning ladies.
Just a quick question for anyone that has had a recurrence. Did you have any symptoms and if so, what were they?
I hope everyone is doing well and not feeling too cold.
Best wishes, Zena J x

Hi Zena, can't help sorry. Had no symptoms at diagnosis and none at both recurrences. If you feel you have symptoms I would contact your hospital? Not the most useful/helpful of replies!Hope you are ok. Kathy xx
I'm sure I am (I say confidently). I go for my check up next week so that will confirm I'm fine.
I only have bloating. I didn't really have any symptoms with my original diagnosis but was just wondering if I should expect any.
Thanks for your reply Kathy. Always, nice to have a chat. xx
Oh good luck for next week. I have my scan results tomorrow. Even after 10 years I still get in a tizzy lol, though not until I'm actually in the room waiting for the results. I tend to watch the expression on the Dr's face. If he's smiling all will be well, if he walks in looking serious I'm in trouble. I'm ok when I don't have to think about it lol. Soooooo scan results tomorrow and then off to the Vets to pick up my dog's ashes :(. I was dealing with that fine too until they rang to tell me he was ready to be collected :(. xxxx
Busy day tomorrow for you Kathy. I hope your scan is OK and that picking up the ashes isn't too difficult. Take lots of care, big hugs and love ❤️Xx Jane
☹️ Good luck for good news tomorrow.

This could be me talking except for the dog. I'm so sorry to hear this. It is very upsetting for you. Wish you all the best. xx
Good luck tomorrow Kathy I'm sure you will let us all know how you go on and I'm sorry to hear about your dog!! its an awful thing losing your best fur friend xx
Good luck for tomorrow!
To lose your dog is like losing a best friend, but they leave paw prints on your heart forever . XX
Hi Zena, I have had two recurrence but no symptoms really, both of mine have been more thickening than tumour so not sure if that's why!
hope you are ok xxx
Hi Alison, thanks for your reply. I'm only asking so I know what to look out for but it looks like it's the same as the original no symptoms. I'll get the bloating checked out but I'm confident all is okay. xx
I'm fine as far as I know Alison. Thanks for your reply. Hope all is okay with you, also. Best wishes, Zena xx
I am facing my first recurrence and I had no symptoms just a rising Ca125. However on CT and pet scan a bubble /lesion was seen on or around liver. This has now been removed and due to see oncologist later today.
Hope all goes well with that.Let me know how you get on. I haven't had a scan for at least 3 years. I only get my CA125 checked. I'm worried what will happen when the 5 years is up. xx
Thank you for your reply. I was first diagnosed just before you in March 2013. Got to have another staging CT and blood test and then due to start chemotherapy at the end of October - oh what fun but anything is worth it to get rid of the monster.
Did you have treatment in 2013? It looks like I have more excitement to look forward to, although I live in hope. xx
I had a lump on my neck and rising ca125..just 4 weeks after finishing my Chemo carboplatin.
Hi . I've had 3 recurrences and my signs were rising Ca125 and abdominal pain and discomfort. All recurrences in peritoneum
Best wishes

Hello ZenaJ,
Prior to diagnosis I had colourless discharge & then a small bleed, but was still not picked up by my then GP. I find it very concerning that because I am on watch & wait that there maybe something going on inside that I know nothing about & when I do know maybe it will be to late should there be a recurrence!!
My Consultant did say that I would know if something was different, but I still worry. I have my first 6 monthly appointment with her this Thursday 21st which I am dreading, but will see what she says. I have not been offered a scan or blood test since I finished my chemo in March 2016.
I feel very well at present, but never sure if this is a good sign or not.
Wishing you well, sorry I cannot be of any help at present. xxx
Hi Caleda
Your watch and wait would not be acceptable to me and I told my consultant so. I have insisted on 3 monthly bloods and 6 monthly scans as I did not have any symptoms in the first place. She said to me I might have symptoms if I had a recurrence. Might!- not good enough.
If you feel it is time for a couple of checks then make your views known. If you are doing fine as you are then ok. Make it your decision either way.
Best wishes Fay
Like you, my GP didn't pick anything up. I agree with you it is a worry that something might be happening and we don't know about it. I'm not sure why your consultant thinks you'll know about it if something is different because everyone seems to be saying that there are no symptoms. It's almost a lottery as to whether you have a good consultant or not who might pick up a problem.
I can only wish you the best and we'll just have to keep being positive. xxx
The Consultant I am with now is the one that picked up on the cancer in the first place & asked to me go to the hospital straight away (this was following the biopsy, so I do trust her. However I might be tempted to ask for a scan prior to the next app. I do agree though all these things are a lottery.xx
Hi, I am on my 2nd reoccurrence and both times I knew it was back
As i feel uncomfortable on my left side and my bowels play me up .
But apart from that I was fine .
I have my 2nd chemo tomorrow Carb/ Caelyx ..... so not looking forward
To it as they sometimes find it difficult to find a vain .
Best wishes
Pauline xx
I think our veins wear out. Sometimes they'd try four times and still have problems. Because I used to do paid drug trials I already had bad veins from numerous canulas. Even years later it aches sometimes.
Good luck tomorrow, Pauline. At least (on a lighter note) you should be able to go to the loo after it all.
Best wishes, Zena x
Hi Pauline I have my firstCarb/Caelyx on Thursday.I m having a Picc line in tomorrow as my veins are poor too.Good luck with your second. How have you been?
Sharon x
I think they would like me to have a port .... but to be honest I don't fancy
One but I know that it will come to that in the future 😒
Aha!! Yes I hope so , the trouble is the chemo makes me so I
Can't go it takes me a while to get it sorted .... but looking on the bright side
I cope quite well with the chemo I have had , hope it continues
Best wishes to you Zena ,

Pauline, a port is a serious advantage to you if you need further chemo treatment. You can swim, shower, bathe and get on with your life. No poking you multiple times to find and then ruin your veins. I've had mine for two years now. I forget it's even there. I think providers discourage patients from getting them because the person who accesses it must be specially trained and is paid a higher wage. Money drives myriad health care decisions on the part of providers. This is why they are happy to skip blood work and scans to save a few bucks. When in doubt, follow the money.
Thank you for your advise .... I will certainly consider it if
They have problems today finding a vain today .
When I ask my Dr onc she had a look and said well I could find one .But I don't think it would be due to funding as I have work private health insurance and they have been really good .

Hi Zena, symptoms were bloating and general uncomfortable bowels.Discomfort now painful.Chemo starts again tomorrow to shrink the buggers. Best wishes to you.Sharon x
Thanks Sharon, best wishes to you also. You should be finished for Christmas. xx
Hi ZenaJ, I recurred in Sept 2016 and at that time was feeling great (devastated at confirmation of recurrence), after about 3 months on "watch and wait" I started to have mild bowel symptoms but otherwise really fit and well, these gradually got worse until I decided I was ready for second line chemo (which I've just finished). The bowel symptoms disappeared within about 3 weeks of starting chemo.
Not feeling cold here in Australia - it's warming up nicely, although with a bush fire on the farm boundary we would do with some rain.
Best wishes Dawn
Thanks Dawn, it seems like the bowel is a common factor.
Hope you're not too troubled by the fire and got lots of buckets. It's a beautiful day here in Essex, England. No rain and lots of sunshine. First official day of autumn so expect some cold nights and mornings. We hope to get to Australia some day. It's the spiders that put me off.
Hope all is well with you now. Zena x
