This is a great question, I am looking forward to everyones answer. I have used prayer to keep my spirits high and believe I will stay well. Large groups have prayed for me and I do believe that has kept me going. I also do everything anyone tells me about or that I read about that will help me stay healthy during this journey. As long as it doesn't hurt me, I go ahead and try to incorporate it into my diet. I research all this first. Keeping my body alkaline, very little sugar etc. When I'm at my weakest, I try to walk as often or far as I can. I try to keep up with my daily schedule of household chores even if I have to really push to get it done. My husband and family have been very supportive. I have stayed away from anything stresful as much as I can. I believe stress can bring on disease and can stir it back up. I have wonderful friends that take me to breakfast occasionally and call and come by when I'm feeling my worse. I have been truly blessed during all this. I am now feeling well enough to get back to more vigorous exercise and plan to start walking further and maybe joing a class at the gym. I have gotten lazy and need to pick it up.

Hi.Sorry to see you have reocurred.I reocurred first time within 11 month with PPC stage 3..I am on my 2nd reocurence as of now.I did taxol/carbo the first two reocurences. I am in treatment with carbo only this time.Today is my birthday and having my third chemo treatment today. As the doctors have told me,I am treatable, not curable.Hoping the carbo alone does the work and gets me a longer break next time..Hoping your treatment goes well for you.🤗💙💙Lynn

Hi Rteeter. I think that almost all of us have to accept that this is something we now to live with and make the most of our lives. I was diagnosed 3c in Nov 2011. I responded well to chemo and went into remission. 18 months later, it returned. I again responded well to chemo and went into remission with a maintenance drug to help out, which I still have 3-weekly. So you see from the date of diagnosis, I've had a very good remission. I had operations initially but when it returned I was told it was now inoperable (but not untreatable). Well-meaning people tell me it's going well for me because I have a good attitude. I have no idea if that makes any difference but I DO know that a poor attitude will do no one any good. If my attitude has helped me then I can't take any credit for that; I have a supportive husband, wonderful staff at the hospital I attend and good friends at the OC Support Group I attend.

I know a woman who had breast cancer and also OC. That was > 25 years ago. The cancers never returned. She is BRCA positive. Another friend who goes to our OC Support group has been free of OC for around 15 years. When diagnosed she was told it was terminal but it never returned. So it's not impossible to be free of it.

I am fit and well. I don't follow any particular diet, no supplements (except cod liver oil occasionally) but my husband and I both enjoy cooking and like to eat healthily. That doesn't mean we don't have the occasional glass of alcohol, eat chocolate or enjoy fish & chips but mainly we eat the stuff we all know we should be eating. It was an American who said "Eat food, not too much, mainly plant based". Always sounded sensible to me. I don't do any particular exercising but I do like to be on my feet and always doing something.

As time goes by, more and better treatments are being found for OC. Increasingly, it's considered to be a chronic illness, rather than a death-sentence. Good luck & best wishes. Pauline.
