My results were in this morning. I'm BRCA2 positive. I'm surprised. Don't know why but I thought I'd test negative. Just hope my sister and son test negative now. X

Everything crossed for your sister & son Suzanne. How do you feel? Xx

Hi Jessica.

Thank you.

I feel ok for me. I do worry that my sister or son might have the gene. I'm concerned that I have a 50% chance of getting breast cancer now but I will be monitored very closely. I feel that I have an answer as to why I got ovarian cancer.

I hope all is ok with you. Xxx

Hopefully they won't have the gene but if so, at least forewarned is forearmed. Good luck with the breast cancer monitoring. All the best!

I'm awaiting genetic testing. I feel same as you did, expecting a negative result. I guess just cos absolutely nothing in the family. But as you say, it's the fear for siblings & children.

All the very best xxx

Thank you Jessica. I think my clinical nurse specialist was surprised. My mum has recently had breast cancer. My maternal grandmother had womb cancer. I still thought I'd be negative.

I'm just hoping my son and sister test negative. I'll somehow feel it's my fault if my son especially has it.

There are treatments specifically targeted for these faulty genes so I guess that's a positive.

Wishing you all the best. Xx

Yes I heard that re treatments.

You mustn't feel guilty. Knowledge is power and if it means your family members have a reason to be monitored then they are safer off than many. Especially those diagnosed too late xx

Hi Suzanne, What do they say it never rains but it pours so sorry to hear your news I really hope your children are negative. I was tested last week the CNS I saw was superb telling me it is a really exciting time in relation to new treatments for ovarian cancer coming on and the parp inhibitors for Brca positive women with ovarian cancer are getting excellent results.Chris
