Morning ladies. Just wondering if any of you have experience of ovarian cancer in the liver and what treatments you had for it? X

Hi. My cancer had spread to my liver at diagnosis. I had carbo and taxol for 9 weeks then a radical surgery that involved a laser on my liver. I then had another 9 weeks of carbo/taxol. I then had no evidencr of disease for 9 months.
I had a recurrence and one of the sites it came back on was my liver. I had more carbo/caleyx for 6 months but the cancer on my liver remained albeit it very small. I've had a year off chemo this time and my liver has remained stable so delighted with that.
Hopefully this helps x
I had it on the surface of my liver at diagnosis which was removed during surgery. It didn't come back there at my current recurrence thank goodness. X
Yes when I was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3c it has spread to my liver. They gave me a mega dose 750mg each of Carboplatin and Taxol. That one big dose got it out of my liver. So far, it hasn't come back there. That dose nearly killed me cause I was allergic to Carboplatin.
Thanks ladies, that's really helpful.
Mum's in hospital and hopefully will see the oncologist tomorrow. They're saying there's a small tumour on her liver but that her liver function is only slightly down so I'm hoping more chemo will be an option for her. X
Mine recurred with a patch in my liver but I'm having the same chemo as many have for recurrences elsewhere. Weekly taxol now which is shrinking all except one patch. My liver function is fine. Good luck for your mum x
Is it on or in the liver? There is a difference. If its on the liver it potentially can be removed by surgery. If its in the liver then it would be chemo I believe.
Hi Emily and yes I've had 2 patches on the liver that sprouted up at different times - the first 8 months after original diagnosis and the second 6 months after that - treated successfully with chemo each time so you and your mum keep hanging in there! 🌷🌷.

Hi there. As Katfish has asked, the important question is - is it IN the liver or ON the liver. When my OC returned it was ON the liver. I questioned the onc about this and he said that being ON the liver is not a problem for the chemo to kill. It did. Two years on and I'm still in remission. Good luck. Pauline
My fourth recurrence was on the liver and I had surgery where they found a tumour on my diaphragm as well which was much more difficult to remove but I am now five years without recurrence so surgery can work.Good luck.Viv.
a small lesion is ON my liver.. was not seen at surgery/debulking but showed up 6 weeks later when my lungs were scanned before starting Chemo... chemo did not change the size so it is considered stable. the gyn/onc wants to take a wait and see approach since my numbers are still within range etc. Best of luck to you and will be following post.
Morning ladies. Thanks for all your responses. You've been wonderful as always.
Mum saw her oncologist yesterday. She was cross (in a nice way) that mum went on for too long without being able to hold down food or drink and that she should have called in before it got to the point her kidneys were failing! To be fair to mum the only reason she didn't is that the oncologist told six weeks earlier that the problems she wasn't having were gastro and not an oncology problem!
She has had another recurrence (in or on her liver wasn't really confirmed) and has ascites. Although much better, they need to make sure her kidney function is back to normal and then they're going to start another round of chemo.
We all feel relieved that there's a plan in place and hopfully she'll be home later this week. X
