Hopefully home tomorrow... πŸ™πŸΌQ

I can't quite believe it's 2 weeks tomorrow since my surgery...& I'm STILL in hospital bar Sun & Mon in the comfort of my own home/bed etc I've been here!

Maybe I tempted fate as I felt so good following the op. I was convinced I'd have a textbook recovery. However I've now learnt that because he had to take so much of my diaphragm away, I suffered from symptoms of that & pleural effusion. They drained about 650/750ml of fluid.

Ended up in a fair bit of pain after drainage, had another difficult night, so medication was switched again & we're currently hoping they've found the right balance so I can actually go home Monday.

Everyone says this is a tough journey, had no idea just how much stamina I'd need to get through. I still have to face more chemo too shortly, so know I'm gonna have to dig very deep!

Just the reminder from these photos tells me, just how up & down the journey is!!! x

Sarah, you've had such a difficult few weeks but I'm pleased to hear you may nearly be able to go home. I think we often underestimate just how much our poor bodies go through with major surgery so it's no surprise that often, things don't quite go as first planned.

Try & be kind to yourself. The road ahead may seem long but you have already shown immense strength both in body and mind. There are going to be tough times ahead but, with the help of your family, friends and of course all of us on here, you'll battle through those times.

Hoping the sun comes out for your departure home. ((Hugs)) Jemima xx

Thanks Jemima, my God it's been harder than I thought it would be, but I can't complain, it's been pretty easy up until now. The good news is, that despite still being fairly constipated, I have actually managed a πŸ’© all by myself which is something I couldn't do a week ago! xxx

Dear Sarah..........the road is long, but you will come to the end of it, once you are back in the comfort of your home you will feel so much better. Hospital can be very depressing. I hope and pray your next post will be from home! As Mrs_Atko said be kind to yourself and let everyone spoil you! xx

It's a shame you've had such a rough time from the operation. You'll soon be home and eventually put it behind you.

All the best!

Sarah I had radical surgery and it was rough. I thought after all the pain I had been through before diagnosis should be fine but it hit me hard. One tip I would also give is not to rush back into chemo. They said I could have up to 6 weeks break before starting again but I pushed and started it after just less than 3. It was definitely too early as it knocked me off. Another week for me would have made a massive difference to how I was feeling. Be kind to yourself and patient.

It is a long road but every day is a new day and with that new day there usually comes progress, even though some days will only be a little bit it is the encouragement we need to show us that things are getting better xo

Got home yesterday afternoon. Pain seems under control with current cocktail of painkillers. Sleeping in my own bed with my duvet, Monkeyhusband & cat was BLISS! Moved about a little today but not that much, will increase gradually each day. Chemo confirmed to restart Fri 3 Jan.

Want to thank all you ladies for your support throughout the duration of my op & re-admittance. Your words of wisdom were a shining light through what became a pretty dark/scary place. Now it's behind me, like most things, it doesn't seem so bad... 😘 Xxx
