NED
No evidence of disease, luv Marg , hope this helps you.
Thanks, Marg! I have stage 4 ovarian cancer. I hope that someday I will be able to say NED!
I wondered the same yesterday, I'm also Stage 4a. Last weekly chemo next week (no 8j & then surgery 9 Jan, followed by more chemo. Mine presented as pleural effusion. Diagnosed 19 Oct.
Hi Sarah, I was diagnosed as 4a in June and had a pleural effusion too which required a pleurodesis before I could even start treatment. After 3 rounds of taxol/carbo there was no detectable cancer on CT scan. Since then I have had 3 more rounds of chemo and debulking surgery. Only microscopic disease was found in tissue that was removed. Final scan due next week, which docs say is to give them a record going forward as they don't expect to find anything. Six months ago I did not expect to be in this position. I hope this gives you some encouragement.
This is really promising, thank you! My biggest fear when I was first diagnosed was being told it had gone secondary already. Was in shock on diagnosis as I had a clear ultrasound in July, being told both my ovaries looked fine, then being told I was stage 4a just 3 months later! I feel very hopeful though, and am being told that there is lots they can do. At present just taking it day by day, but since finding this website and forum I no longer feel so alone. Thank you for taking the time to answer, it's incredibly reassuring x
I was diagnosed stage 3c back at Easter had to have chemo prior to surgery, then full debulking surgery my surgeon said he was able to remove all visible evidence of disease and the next three chemo will hopefully kill any microscopic cells.
Here I am today looking forward to Christmas this year with my family, and continue to remain NED.
Hugs Ellsey xx
Hiya Ellsey,
I'm exactly in the same position as you , but they diagnosed me in August and I've also had to have a ileostomy!!! Had my debulking two and half weeks ago... Still in a bit of discomfort though 😡.., haven't had my appointments got the rest of the chemo sessions yet, not that fussed about it at the mo !!'
Didn't think I would be here for Christmas back in August , so I am sooooo happy despite the pain !!!
Lots of love ❤️ xxx Jackie
You will get there Jackie it does take time for your body to heal after the major surgery you've just had.
I was told by surgeon I was having a bowel resection, but was so lucky that the chemo got it all. Be kind to yourself as sometimes we forget what our bodies are going through.
Build up your strength now ready for the last leg of your treatment.
Hugs Ellsey xx
Thank you Ellsey,
You are right , I think as soon as you start to feel a little bit better , you feel that you are able to go back to your old routine!! WRONG!!!!!..... I am grateful for this time of the year whereupon I can indulge myself with Christmas 🎄 tv 📺.. I will keep you updated on events re chemo etc..
Lots of love ❤️ Jackie xxx
When someone wished me NED on one of my first posts in another forum, I wondered how they knew my middle name started with E, and my initials were NED, lol.
