To be honest, I'm not sure. NED sounds brilliant but do you feel well? That's the thing. If you're well in yourself, I think that's different but I know from experience that many women have chronic pain from Ovarian and / or have chronic/intermittent tiredness. I know I couldn't work although I'm a very hard worker by nature xx

I would suggest that if you don't need the money and are feeling well enough then yes. If you need the money then stay with it until the review which is I believe every three years.

Hi

It is my understanding that ones eligibility for PIP is not based on diagnosis alone but on the how a illness and its treatment impacts on ones ability to carry out essential day to day activities. It is not means tested and is designed to acknowledge that the negative effects of illness can have a significant financial cost.

It is fantastic that you have achieved Ned. However it is unlikely that this has clicked a switch and suddenly meant that OC no longer has any impact on your daily life. Symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, pain, poor stamina and the haze of chemo brain may well stick around for a long time. Recovery from these can be a much more lengthy process. Plus they can fluctuate and be exacerbated by tiredness, stress and other illness.

Of course you should not continue to claim if you are no longer suffering any adverse effects and are obliged to inform the DWP if that is the case. However my advice would be to carefully assess your current situation before you decide what to do. Perhaps a chat with your GP would help clarify things. Also be aware that if you are claiming other benefits such as ESA that these maybe affected if you no longer receive PIP.

Sorry if I went on a bit but in my pre OC life benefits were my bread and butter!

All the very bestx

PS in my experience PIP is now reviewed on an annual basis.

Hi,

Do you still need help with parts of your daily life? I am thankfully NED, but am still having problems with my health due to the effects of chemo and all that goes with having OC. I had a new assessment where my daily care rate got reduced, this is because I still need support, but not as much as I did when I was going through treatment. They are assessing on a yearly basis, even though you may have been awarded for 2-3 years. It really is down to how you are feeling and managing daily. Remember as well the psychological side, are you depressed anxious etc and is this affecting you? Obviously if you are completely feeling well and are managing without any support at all, then yes you would need to cancel the award.

I hope this helps
