Meet the criteria for the LOGS Trials, have an appointment at the Royal Marsden next week to sign the consent form agreeing to take part. Have read the information and it's all a bit scary. Just wondering if there is anyone on this site in a similar position who may like to chat.

Can't share any experiences or offer any insight however I'm sure there will be someone on here soon who can. Scary but exciting in a way I'm sure. Take a deep breath! Fab photo by the way.

Take care and let us know how you get on xxx

Thanks for response. I've been waiting ages for the trials to start, fortunately every thing is stable, but now it's within reach I am worrying perhaps unnecessarily. Will let you know the outcome, the idea is to shrink the tumour!

Oh that's the one for low grade OC isn't it? I sort of keep an eye on that one as it may become important for me as well at some point (since I've got borderline with some low grade serous OC). Very glad for you that you will take part and please let us know how it's going.

Hello Gwen,

The LOGS Trial is being conducted by Royal Marsden for people with low grade serous oc. There will be three randomised groups both in the uk and America being monitored. One group will be on chemo, one on a hormone drug and another on a new drug. Each group will be studied to see the effects and I guess comparisons made. Lots of tests, ie tissue samples, biopsy, bloods, scans etc.

Have agreed to take part and not so scared now as all my questions were answered at my last appointment at the Royal Marsden. Not certain I will be accepted, have to go through scan and initial tests first and if all meets the requirements then i will be accepted.

Hi MsLizD

Thanks for your response. I too am low grade serous - stage 3. I am under The Christie in Manchester. Were you under the Royal Marsden or did you get referred there to see if you qualified for the LOGS trial? What does LOGS stand for?

Good luck with the initial tests, etc. and hope you get accepted.

Keep us upto date with the trial.

I asked my local oncologist to refer me to RM about 18 months ago. They accepted me, I was still having scans and blood tests locally. About 12 months ago RM told me about this trial and I met the criteria, so since then we have been waiting for it to open. Have to say, R M is just a fantastic hospital and I feel so fortunate to be treated by them. I believe the Christie has a good reputation too.

Never thought to ask what LOGS stands for.

Are you receiving treatment at the moment and how are things going?

Hi again MsLizD

I too asked for a referral to The Christie which I was aware of being a Mancunian. At the time I was having reviews at my local hospital. Yes The Christie have been fantastic. I have been on Letrozole about 6 months (its an aromataze inhibitor) as The Christie found my cells were strongly oestrogen sensitive. I have some side effects but nothing I can't handle. A scan shows I'm stable. They are keeping me under 3/4 monthly reviews via blood tests and CT scans. I also found I have oesteopenia, via a DEXA bone scan, (the precurser to oeseoporosis) and have been put on high strength Calcium/Vit D.

My consultant did mention a possible trial but I don't know which one it was.

Overall I've got to be very happy and hope it continues.

Hi Gwen,

Think I would share what you say, "overall happy" that is good, likewise stable is good anything else a bonus.

We are all so different in how the diesease effects us and how the drugs impact on us.

The plan is, I too will be on Letrozole and I know osteoporosis can be one of the side effect. It sounds as if the Christie have things well under control and your treatment will be similar to what I will experience if I am accepted on the trial. At the start biopsy done (not looking forward to that), tissue samples taken, scans, blood tests so regular visits to RM.

I was diagnosed just over 4 years, had a hysterectomy then chemo for around two years. For the last two years things have progressed but not greatly and the last scans over the past year I guess have been stable. I tend to live a fairly ok life, eat what I want, swim regularly and live for the day. How about you?

Best Wishes,

Liz x
