Had the ultrasound in may technician said I had fibroids but not big enough to cause heavy bleeding a week later went to docs for results and he said I had an ovarian mass on right and fibroids and one was attached to ovary on the left because of position on uterus the technician couldn't rule out it being something nasty so I would be reffered to gynae another 5 wk wait. Now seen gynae had smear and polyp removed was told doc shouldnt have said it was ovarian mass now awaiting ca125 bloods and have to have mri next wk .I:ve been put on northisterone and metfemicacid .So stressed with all the waiting and feeling very low even though doc thinks il be fine as I have fibroids and not ovarian mass

Hi. I just want to wish you well. My symptoms didn't include heavy bleeding but I am probably older than you as I was 53 at diagnosis. I do know however that fibroids can cause this and they can also cause the CA125 test to be raised. However the MRI scan will reveal more. Best wishes. Ann

I know it's no use telling you not to worry. Your doctors are just checking it all out, just in case.... I guess if you're posting on here, you may be fearing OC. Have a look at ovacome.org.uk

On there you will find fact sheets about symptoms,,diagnosis abd treatment etc. they're under the resources heading. There's also a helpline number in case you want to speak to a nurse with lots of experience in the field of OC. This part, the waiting, is the worst part. I hope the tablets will help. I was on mefemic acid for years for heavy and painful periods. I found they helped the pain a lot. I also had a tilted womb. Hope the scans show there's nothing weird going on. It's hard to separate what is just part of 'normal' body ageing and what needs investigating.

All the best,

Love Wendy xx
