I have asked for avastin and told I can't have it as I'm now on 5th line chemo but I would like to try it as I doubt my body can take any more chemo as my white cells keep dropping and didn't rise significantly after 4th round chemo finished last may. I am at the Christie and would be willing to talk to the press. I don't understand why its only allowed for 2 line treatment and wasn't around when I was at that stage

Hi Francesca, I completely understand why you would want to try it. Unfortunately its just that there is no safety/effectiveness data for women who are on 5th line, therefore there is no licence, therefore there is no funding :-(. Its important for everyone to remember that Avastin is not for everyone - Its been shown to work in women who have bulky disease left behind after surgery, but they just don't know if it is safe or effective for women later.... Hopefully this treatment will be less punishing than the last one and give you a great remission.
