What is Lynch Syndrome

Good morning ladies,

I can't recall exactly where I heard of the link between ovarian cancer (me) and bowel cancer (my Dad died of this in 1974, with secondaries in his liver) and breast cancer (my cousin on my Dad's side had both breast removed 12 years ago & is still alive) but it was during this past 12 months.

When I chatted to our GP he had not heard of it, but referred me to the Clinical Genetics Department at Nottingham University who have just reported back advising I've no mutation for either Lynch's syndrome nor BRCA genes. I have ok'd for my blood to be put into the BOCS study (Breast & Ovarian Cancer study).

As a precaution, the genetic councillor has given my daughter (aged 41) referral for early breast screening and suggested my son's twin daughters (only 5 years old last month) consider seeking advice when they are 30; science could have moved on a long way in this next 25 years.

Hope today is as a good a day as it can be for everyone,

Lesley
