PSA was high. If it doesn’t come down they want to do a biopsy. Any tips on how to lower it?

HU has an Advanced Prostate Cancer community full of educational tips and support. My PSA was 26 circa December 2021, and reached 30 about 5 months later (after escalating scans) before treatment began. Nowadays under medication and post-radiation, my PSA is undetectable. A high PSA might be caused by an enlarged prostate, which is what the biopsy will determine. The best way to lower your PSA is to follow the road wherever it goes and make sure you have good doctors.

Also, starting now, you should lose as much weight as you can if you are overweight, and commence daily resistance and aerobic exercise. This is hardly a bad idea for anyone, but if you are on the cusp of PCa treatment, it will be far easier on you and more effective. GL!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check out the prostate group. My effort to link was initially unsuccessful. What is strange to me is my urologist said my prostate was not enlarged even though I have the symptoms. So another blood test. Doing all of those exercise and diet after much prompting from wife. Good luck to you.

This is really the wrong group to address that question. HealthUnlocked has several prostate-related groups that would provide a better discussion. You can use the search bar in the upper right to find them

That being said, treatments from prostate cancer, such as androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) have a negative impact on bone health. If you are treated from prostate cancer, talk to you PCP and your oncologist about a DXA scan before treatment (to establish your baseline bone density) and ongoing monitoring of bone density.

Thank you. I tried a search and kept coming back to this section. I’ll keep trying. My endocrinologist did say he wanted a new scan This problem came on so quickly and there is so much information that is contradictory. I’m doing all the things you suggested. My wife makes sure I do.

P.S. The biopsy will tell you some really important things.
