Has anyone been to an Osteo Strong facility? They just opened one here, and I'm scheduled for a free session on Tuesday. It's supposed to be a weight lifting program specifically for osteoporosis patients

I have been doing OsteoStrong for a little more than 2 years now and love it! Though still in osteopenia, I had been told by my doctor that I continued to have a steady decline in bone density; my T score going from -1.4 to -2.0 on my DEXA and a downward trend of -7.3. I was headed for medication, which I did not want to take until absolutely necessary. I asked for the next 2 years to work on things myself and added Calcium/Vit D, yoga, and a weight training class at my local YMCA. And, I enrolled in weekly OsteoStrong. After 2 years I had my follow-up DEXA . The results were very encouraging with my T score for L1-L2 moving from -2.0 to 1.9. with an overall AP spine change of +1.4%. My T- score on the right femur held steady and my left femur actually gained 6%!

I continue to go weekly- it takes 15 minutes to use the 4 stations which incorporate the correct way to stress bone so that it increases. NO special clothing or equipment needed- I do it on my lunch hour.

I'm happy to answer any more questions. I feel like it has been an important component in keeping me off medication and slowing what might be an inevitable decline.

Is OsteoStrong something that you need to do for ever? Is it expensive?

I actually don’t know if you would need to continue forever. But as long as I am getting a benefit from it, I will continue. There are several levels of memberships. They offer other modalities as add-Ins, such as hydro massage, chair massage, red light therapy, Biocharger. The price increases with the more modalities you choose. It costs me $159/month (weekly appointment with 1 additional modality) which I am happy to pay to keep me from having to take medication.
