Sinusitis - Fosomax - beware!

I emailed my dr. To let him know that i have come to the conclusion that fosomax is causing my sinusitis. I keep a diary when on new meds and 4 days after taking my first pill i woke up with sinusitis . I skipped a week until i felt better and started it up again and sure enough it came back! Just posting in case someone else on this board might have the same issue and not realize it could be the fosomax! Dr. Says this is not uncommon!!!

I got a nasty sinus infection while taking Risedronate (Actonel in the US), which I was convinced was due to the medication. Interesting that your doctor says sinusitis is a common side effect of Fosomax (Alendronic Acid in the UK), as a sinus infection could readily develop from that.

Thanks for posting Babsie51. I had the most awful sinus infections - along with ear pain, eye pain - well general face pain and swollen glands under my chin when I was took alendronic acid for four months. When I stopped taking the alendronic things went back to normal but I felt really dreadful from almost as soon as I started taking the alendronic until I stopped taking it.

Thanks for your post! I have been on weekly Fosamax for about a year now. I have had a stuffy/tightness feeling in nose for some time that never seems to go away. Along with the runny nose. I had not attributed it to the Fosamax as I had mild sinus issues before starting Fosamax.
