Hi,

I’m new on here and newly diagnosed. I need to make a decision between Tymlos and Reclast this week, and could use input. Pros and cons of each… experience of those who have tried one or both… etc.

Thank you!

I have same ... Reclast or Tmylos or nothing at all... - don't know what to do. What did you decide and why?

My question is Reclast vs. Prolia. My doctor told me that the side effects are basically the same and that I should make the choice (!!) . Maybe I need a new doctor.

Ha! I actually changed both my PCP and my Endocrinologist (and was disappointed that I was given pretty much the same counsel!).

My decision was not to make a decision… much to the disappointment of both my PCP and Endocrinologist. The more research I do, the more confused I get. For now I’m making lifestyle changes, taking supplements, and continuing to give meds more thought. I’m just not yet convinced, although I’m now only considering Reclast due to the cost of Tymlos.

I am in the USA. Hello, this is a follow up to your question when I was taking a break from HealthUnlocked. Did you make a choice? I have written a great deal about my success with Forteo which is an approach to using Tymlos (which my rheumatologist didn't mention) and after successful 2 years on Forteo, I had Reclast as a once a year infusion for three years. Again with success except with one small area at base of my lower spine. So this year the decision was to try a Prolia injection to see if a different med would make an improvement in that area. As my dental and jaw conditions are excellent I wasn't afraid of trying Prolia. Also I know now that if the decision is made that Prolia is not working, the doctors now know to immediately replace it with another medication which should prevent the fear of the rebound effect of multiple fractures after stopping Prolia. So I am not concerned about that either. I hope my follow up helps in your decisions, and how the sequence of the medications were decided upon. I am doing well. Forteo is expensive, but I received it free, including the needles, through Lily Cares, the Foundation of Eli Whitney which manufactures Forteo. It is based upon income, and you don't need to be a pauper to qualify. I think my posts on Forteo followed by Reclast and now Prolia are still available on American Bone Health or anywhere where questions about Forteo were asked as at the time no one had completed the two year regiment to answer my questions when I needed to make that decision. Send my a PM if you need. Best wishes in your bone density improvement
