I've just crossed over to Osteoporosis with a -2.7 on my hips. I'm a woman, 58, 5'1, 108lbs. I have been using a bio density machine for 10 months, it has helped my spine increase bone mass by 3% . It has not helped my hips however, as they have progressed from -2.4 to -2.7.
I'm not sure if I should start taking medication, or give myself some more time with the bio-density machine, and proper diet, etc. I do play tennis, work out, do yoga, etc. I'm very active. I take cal and vit.d3 suppliments to reach my 1200/400 suggested doses... and have for years.
I'm curious of any women's experience and results, with Fosomax, or/and bio density machines.
Thank you for sharing any of helpful knowledge.

I have never used a biodensity machine but am on Prolia with few if any side effects. Fosamax and the other oral meds have GI issues and I have a sensitive stomach so would never take any of them. If you have osteoporosis you should not be playing tennis or engage in twisting or bending exercises. You might want to Google exercises to avoid. My spine improved significantly with Prolia. I would recommend you discuss with your doctor.
I understand what you're talking about. But you can't stop living your life. If you become afraid, and stop being active, you're health is going to go down hill faster than if you kept doing what your doing. I always think of this saying that I heard somewhere. I'm going to live forever. Or at least I'll die trying. Hope that made sense.
Hi wishiwasdenser, I'm from the UK and although my DEXA results were only in the Osteopenia range, I had 4 spinal fractures. I love your user name, I think it reflects how we all feel. I haven't used a bio-density machine, nor have I used Fosamax. I have annual Zoledronic Acid transfusions. The first caused no problems but the second gave me aches in my hips and thighs for 5 days. I think I should have drunk more water. I should have my third in 2019 so must remember the water. I also take Calcium and Vitamin D. My late mother and grandmother both had Osteoporosis. Mum broke her wrist, but I can't remember gran having any fractures, but she was such a tiny lady. Are there any other members of your family with bone disease?
Acetyl L-Carnitine (CAP) helps and so does K2-7 and don't drink pasteurized milk, the calcium from cooked milk has a negative ion attached and actually depletes calcium absorption and speeds up calcium loss from bones
Very good news on my current dexascan. My hips are now at -2.3 and -2.5 from -2.7 and -2.8 My spine is at -1.2 from -1.3.
2 years of the biodensity machine 1x a week. And added k2 (15mcg) once a day plus bone olive and and 600 of calcium/300 of magnesium and 5000 of vit d3.
Still active with doubles tennis 2 to 3x a week.
Have just heard about the benefits of ipriflavone. Who has experience with it as a supplement. ?
I don't think machines are worth the money although some people who are not able to get exercise the usual way might benefit. If you can walk, if you can wear a weighted vest, if you can do tai chi or do Nordic walking, or use standard gym equipment appropriate for your condition, then don't bother with density machines.
