I use Neil Med to clear my sinuses when needed especially first thing in the morning to clear accumulated mucous. Replaced my Netti Pot. The acidic mucous is very thick and sticky and builds up over night. Nasal steroid sprays did not help me. It comes with little packages of salt and bicarbonate of soda. ENT told me to add drop honey and Baby shampoo. I just add 1/8 tsp of Xylitol. Couldn't live without it now for last 4 years. Xlear is a nice nasal spray to use as and when needed. They also make a sinus rinse bottle like Neil Med.

welsh12 baby shampoo helps thin out the sticky acidic mucous and make it slippery. The salt in the solution can make the nose crusty and hard to clean. ENT recommended NeilMed and said just a drop or 2 of shampoo is enough. I use Xylitol instead of honey and it helps make things slippery. I haven't tried the shampoo yet. I use Almond oil to clean my nostrils when necessary.

Here's an interesting article.
