Hi, I’ve got some worrying symptoms and I’m not sure what’s going on. Dr prescribed silent reflux but I’m not so sure. Had a barrium meal which was normal.
I seem to have constant acid in my mouth which is burning my tongue and lower lip, I do get dripping nose every now and then with sneezing. I seem to produce more saliva than normal. Dr prescribed Nexium which is good for reflux but did nothing for these symptoms. Gaviscon works briefly but symptoms come back. This has been going on for 6 months 24 hrs a day. I’m desperate for answers. Any advice or help gratefully received.
Cheers
Mark

Hi....I have read many posts on the reflux & silent reflux community. I also was told 6 weeks ago that I have silent reflux. Your symptoms have been described by others. I too am reaching out for answers and support. I am so glad your barium swallow result was normal.
Hi Mark, I too often get a burning tongue and lips from the acid in saliva. I find I create more saliva when I am anxious. I have found chewing gum helps. You could also ask your GP for Famotidine tablets. You can take these along with Nexium. They are good for acid reflux and also seem to dry the mouth which may help with the acid burning. Regards.
I too found Famotidine brilliant. I think it used to be called Zantac which was withdrawn. That was prescribed by my GP many years ago and worked. Then it wasn't available but I came across Famotidine while in the US. I think it can be available on prescription over here.
Hi Shaygap. I have had some reflux but my partner suffered with it really badly - particularly LPR symptoms, almost the same as you but he also had a cough and erosion on his teeth from the acid(!). When he went to see a specialist, he had a test (can't remember what its called now but he had a catheter in his nose/oesophagus for a day) which showed the reflux coming up into his stomach and causing the symptoms. Maybe see if you can be referred for a proper diagnostic test?
