Hello,

I’m new to the group and the Guts Charity were great to signpost here. I’ve recent taken these online test showing these results. Has anyone else been through this?

I have most of those symptoms. Caused by Laryngeal/pharyngeal reflux where acid comes up fast through the esophagus and gets into the throat, which has low tolerance for the acid. This is what causes all the reactions we get.

Sounds very familiar, have you found any remedies for this?

The best thing I found for it is domperidone but they will only prescribe this for a few days at a time. But, but, but… there is a relatively new procedure which can be done via keyhole surgery using the LINX system. It involves having a bracelet of magnetic core titanium beads inserted around the base of the espophagus so that it pinches shut after allowing food to go through. I am waiting to see a consultant about it now.

Gaviscon. But this, domperidone and PPI's like lanzoprazole/omeprazole etc., only treat symptoms. The cause is a hiatus hernia and that doesn't just 'go right' on its own. Hence my interest in the LINX system.
