Hi
I'm hoping someone may be able to help. I had omeprazole a number of years back and had a severe skin reaction on parts of my body exposed to daylight. It's now on my medical record in the allergy section of drugs that must not be administered.
I've just been prescribed Lansoprozole by my asthma consultant to rule out GERD as a contributing symptom. However the patient info label mentions speaking to your GP of you've ever had skin reactions to other PPIs. The surgery pharmacist basically told me it's a common side effect and a lot of people get it, even though it is classed as rare on the omeprazole leaflet and was concerning enough for my GP to record in such a way it cannot be prescribed to me.
Should I be concerned the lansoprozole will cause a similar reaction?
Thanks
