I've been suffering constant belly burning, indigestion, acid, constipation feeling ill and sick when i eat and so on for a month on/off but more on.
Went to the doctors did a sample and was given omeprazole. I've not started them yet as I'm feeling a lot better atm.
Done some reading about these pills and they don't fill me with confidence.
I think what I'm asking is,
People who use these regularly would you recommend these pills or should I wait till I really need them like when it comes back or will these prevent it coming back.
Thanks.

I would say use them only if you really need them because coming off these ppi cam be an issue for someone like myself. Try to see if Gaviscon work for you
Thanks for replying.Sorry what do you mean by coming off them? Do you mean like you can depend on them?
I'm very sceptical about taking them.
I don't under stand if they are a cure for t it or just to suppress it untill next time. I've not been diagnosed with anything as yet but nothing has worked ( gavs and teas and so on) for over a month. It's has ease a lot better in last few day but it's still there, without taking these tablets will it come back still worse.
I think if you take acid suppression medication for a long time like a few weeks if you stop abruptly then you can have acid rebound effect. Do if you do take take them try to stop them gradually
Hi there. I have been taking omeprazole for 3 years. They work for me but agree trying to come off is not easy. My GP says I will need to stay on them as to have acid entering the throat etc is not good for obvious reasons. If you can modify what you eat and weight management that will all help, but do listen to your GP. Best of luck 🤞
I stopped taking them after a few days as I didn't like what I read plus started to feel better. Not for as it returned so the gave me lansprazole instead, as I mentioned the omeprazole made me feel a bit wired. I think lansprazole don't agree with me felt knackered and uncomfortable since taking them! I might see if I can swap back to omeprazole I'd rather feel wired and giddy lol. 😁
What is it you take for if you don't mind me asking?
Hi I have a sliding hiatus hernia so acid comes up into throat 🥺. I guess some meds work for some and not for others. I tried lansaprazole but didn’t work for me. I’ve changed my diet and continue with exercise, it’s difficult some days . If I could I wish I could reverse clock and changed my diet before staying on meds. Good luck with yours
What is a sliding hostas hernia ? I have this hard bump above my umbilical cord that is bothering me it sticks out a little the doctor looked at it he thinks it's a hernia but he wants me to do a ultra sound to see what is first. Did you have to get surgery or what do you about it.
