Laryngospams and Omeprazole

Hi I am new to this.site ..Does anyone have the problem of laryngospasm which seems to be triggered by acid reflux. It's terrifying,!! unable to breathe as my voice box slams shut and leaves me hoarse with a sore throat for days afterwards. I have been put of 20mg Omeprazole and I wonder how safe it is to be on this drug for very long. I read articles which say its fine and others which say its definitely not ....

Hi nonasusanI guess see if it works and then monitor your health. I’ve been on this drug for over 20yrs, in that time only 1 dr tried putting me on something else. I decided to reduce to 10mg and it’s working but I wish I could come off altogether.

Who knows what, if any, damage it’s done or is doing I just know my stomach can’t cope without a tablet a day.

Thank you !I will stick with the drug and see if I can slowly reduce it to a lesser dosage . I would like to go down to 10mg.
