20 months and fighting sleep refusing his cot

This started with wake at about midnight having gone to bed at anytime between 7.30 and 9. He would stay awake till 3 ..happy but just wanting to play. Then finally he would go down. But now he doesnt want his afternoon nap either and so restless at night..will only settle in our bed after a hour or 2 of persuading . Any ideas? Doesnt seem to be teething?

I can imagine you're feeling very tired! What sort of things have you tried so far? Has anything worked, even for a little while?

Hello

Thank you for your reply . Before now weve just let him lie between us in hope's he will finally go to sleep but obviously it's not ideal and noone sleeps properly. He tries to climb out of his cot which scared me silly so we took the sides off last night and put a stair gate in his door. I had to take him back to bed about 10 times then it clicked and he slept the night thru!! So will see how tonight goes.
