hi all.

Just thought I would update on my results, at least some of them .

it seems I have SIBO, not been told much about it just that I have it! Been given a FODMAP book to follow, that’s interesting, things I can eat, I can’t because of my IL and reflux and things I can’t eat are good with my IL and reflux !so another journey to embark.

I have also had a wheezing on my chest for the past 10 weeks, went to the docs three weeks ago, had a chest X Ray, came back clear, obviously apart from previous nodule. Still have the wheezing though, not sure sure where to go from here so any suggestions most welcome.

All of this is playing havoc with my Bi Polar as you can imagine. But the docs don’t seem to take that into account. I feel “ fobbed off “ all the time.

any advice would be most welcome.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello there. Ah, I have SIBO too. Did you get an indication as to why you have SIBO? I was told that it was probably due to slow motility as a longer term consequence of the surgery. I.e. everything moving a lot slower giving time for bacteria to grow. So I was given a motility drug. On the whole this has been marvellous. I needed a course of antibiotics recently. This was the first set in four years but that was my fault for missing motility doses. I know that these drugs can sometimes reduce their effect over time but so far, four years on, I am ok. It may be worth a conversation. I assume you are being seen by a gastroenterologist rather than a surgeon?

What motility drug were you given? I’ve had SIBO twice in the 4 years post op. No explanation given by upper G I nurse.

Hello, I am on Prucalopride. It has made quite a difference as I no longer get that congested feeling. Is your upper GI nurse from the surgical team? Surgical teams are anatomy experts but you have a physiology problem now and I suggest a review from the gastroenterology team could be useful.

Thank you. I’m having terrible bouts of dumping hypoglycaemia and gut issues. The surgical team have not given me any good advice other than the usual eat small portions, try probiotics. I’m 4 years post op now and I live off Hyocine and Imodium!
