Hi there. After recently suffering a long period of cramps, bloating, tiredness, sickness and diahorrea I was wondering whether taking Probiotic drinks might be a useful thing to do going forward. I’m six months on from a 3-way Oesophagotomy operation. Await your valuable comments. Best wishes to all. Julie

sauerkraut, kombucha, ginger & tumeric seemingly ease, with metaclopromide. We are all different with trial and errors, just eat little but often. I tend to keep away from diary, wheat and sugar. Have you tried the keto diet? Best of luck x

Hi Julieanne

I started taking a daily Probiotic at the same time as I altered my diet. The combination has made a significant difference to my well-being.

The main reason we in this ‘Club’ suffer is weight loss. We are told, post op, to eat the foods that allows us to increase our weight. Regrettably, however, many of those foods often have an adverse effect on us, dumping etc etc.

I no longer take ‘Biokult’ as I came to the conclusion they were not really helping. However, that may not be the case for everyone. So why not try them and see for yourself if they help, which I hope the do

Hi MFH28. Yes absolutely, and I find one day food choices are okay and another day the same foods are not. Still - I feel very lucky to have had all the treatments and come out the other end. Best wishes, Julie

Hi there. I actually posted a similar question a while ago! I am aware that taking a PPI (Lanzoprazole) destroys the natural gut bacteria, so I was interested in probiotics. My surgeon agreed they were a good idea to help the microbiome. I take Kefir and live yoghurt every day with no adverse effects at all. As others ha e said, we’re all different and in the early days I think it’s trial and error. I’m 2 1/2 years post op and seem to be improving digestion wise, apart from blood sugar problems. It’s a learning curve. Good luck! ☺️

Hi PopandMo. Thanks for your reply. I haven’t tried Kefir yet but will do. I bought the Actimel Immune Support which seems fine. I think I will go this route to try and help the microbiome. Good to hear you’re 2 and half years and doing well. Have a good weekend. Julie

I would just mention that Actimel, Yakult etc tend to have additives, artificial sweeteners etc. Whereas plain kefir or live yoghurt is a much richer source with no additives, just fermented bacteria. Mo x

Hi Julieanne, please read my story from 8 days ago, there are some helpful tips. But try to sweeten things with honey to soothe your throat and tummy. Make your own probiotic such as Saukraut, but go easy on the apple cider vinegar.

Good luck, it’s all trial and error, just make your diet more non alkaline, I’ve taken diary and sugar out of mine to slow down cancer and perhaps: drink green tea, Soursop and oat milk x

Having experimented with probiotics which made me ill, I have settled on prebiotics. I have found bananas settling but not a cure for our new plumbing Best of luck.
