Possible SIBO?

Hi

I'm 4 years post surgery and chemo, and in the last few months have been noticing that I am having quite a few episodes of bloating, nausea, and sometimes diarrhoea. I can't seem to figure out what triggers it, apart from the obvious times its caused by overeating.

I was wondering if this could be SIBO? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Hi, heard similar symptoms for problems with gallstones/bladder and pancreas. Have those been checked? Any pain or sickness also are clues. Any change in bowel or urine colour? Sorry unsure what SIBO is

Hello there. I have been diagnosed with SIBO. It took a little while to diagnose but a dose of antibiotics cleared every symptom and then of course it gradually returned. So, that kind of diagnosed it. Whilst my surgeon is excellent and I have every confidence in him he referred me to a GI physician to investigate my symptoms and he knew straight away what was going on. For me the majority of my symptoms were upper GI. The SIBO seems to cause satiety and that has a knock on effect with everything being a bit sluggish. I also got bloating and waves of nausea that can be quite difficult and my bowels have never been quite right after surgery so it was difficult to use that as an indicator. So, mainly upper GI.

Treating it is proving a little tricky as I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics so we are still trying to find a regime that works for me. So, you may well have SIBO as it is now a known consequence of surgery. Always best to check with the professionals though and you will need one to help you find a treatment.
