HiI am suffering from nausea everyday, which they still have not got to the bottom of, but have been prescribed Metoclopramide which gets rid of the sickness, been on it for about 6 months now ,hope that helps

I suffered nausea 2 months after Ivor Lewis, to the point I could not eat. The surgeon arranged for me to have botox injections in stomach, this solved problem. But this does not work for everyone. Best of luck

Hi - it’s very early days for you and there are lots of other anti nausea meds to try - I would discuss with your specialist nurse - I am 5 and a half years on and still have nausea every single day - tried everything under the sun and used to get steriods for it - but I just accept it now - I go for a morning walk every day which helps a bit - all the best

Hello there. I am 14 years post surgery. When I look back on the whole thing the nausea was the worst thing. It can be overwhelming. It does of course eventually improve and you do get used to it. It took about a year to really settle down. There are a variety of medications and I suggest you discuss it with your doctor to try which suits you the best. They all work very quickly so it doesn’t take long to find the right one.

Hello. I have never needed any regular reflux medication. I took it post op for a few weeks and there has been the odd occasion where I have felt like I have had a bit of gastritis in the gastric tube but I only take it for a few days. Unfortunately I now have SIBO so I need all the gastric acid I can produce. It does all settle down but it is surprising how long the body takes to readjust, but it does readjust.

Hi, I am eight and a half years post op but still suffer nausea in the morning. I drink a cup of lemon and ginger tea which helps me. Give it a try. Best Wishes, James.

Hi Von66, I’m 9 weeks post IL tomorrow so fairly new to our new pluming too. I’m sure someone with more experience can help. The only food I’ve eaten that’s caused me a problem so far is pasta. I’ve felt sick twice and realised it was due to not eating regular enough. I’ve found that I need sugar fairly regularly too or I feel light headed. I graze on chocolate coated peanuts and raisins and eat every 2 hours even if it’s a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits. I hope you get some relief from this soon. Sue

I am 2 years post op.

I had severe nausea and was re admitted to hospital

To get it under control which they could not do. I ended up trying cbd oil and it has really helped. 90 percent better than I was.

1 ml of cbd oil 3 times a day.

I went from not being able to lift my head off to the table to 90 percent myself.

Have heard of this but don’t know much about it where do you have to get from and could you tell me a bit about it please ?

I am a Canadian living in Australia.

CBd oil is readily accessible in Canada so I have a lot of friends who use it and I know the benefits.

When I started it down here I had to get it via friends but I now get it through my oncologist as they have it approved for this treatment.

I find the medical professionals in some countries do not acknowledge the benefits but inknwonwhat it has done for me. It has given me my life back.

I take one that is a ratio of CBD to THC of 20:1 which means very little THC but it’s the CBD that helps the nausea. Tremendously. I highly highly recommend you trying it.

CBD is a concentrated cannabis oil with most of the THC removed down to about .03%. THC is what gives you the high. It is known to be very effective for most digestive issues and is available at cannabis stores. I don't know if cannabis is legal in your area but here in Canada and most of the US cannabis is legal and there are stores all over the place where this pharmaceutical grade product can be purchased.

Had my ivor lewis sept 2017 nausea lasted a long time but rarely occurs now. My biggest problem was my mouth constantly filling with saliva like liquid. This still happens occasionally. 8 weeks on is very early, you have to be patient and progress in baby steps. A friend gave me a pretty note book in which to record progress. It helped a lot. Mostly recorded how far I walked each day starting with the end of the drive. Also recorded how eating etc was going. I think full recovery can take a long time and also you gradually adapt to the new plumbing system. Last week I had the best week health wise that I have had in 4 years. Others noticed this as well. I have had 1 major set back en route but it isn't a quick thing to get over. All the best for your progress
