Finished all 4 cycles of chemo yesterday. Onwards and upwards, scan on 11 th May and then decision on surgery date.

Quick question, I have a port in situ, will this now need to be heparinised as it won’t be in use for some time. Forgot to ask🙄

Hi, yep I’m feeling really good about another milestone reached. Mines a central port so it’s staying in and yes it needs to be heparinised every 4 weeks, I found out today when I went to have my 24 hour pump removed. Scan on 11th May 😃

Well done so far, Dee. You're looking good!

As Kiddy says, nutrition is important now, especially getting plenty of protein. I drank lots of chicken broth (I couldn't swallow much else) and made and froze extra to have when I came home from hospital. It turned out to be very useful.

Well done. very good on you. with all the advice aready given, some extra.

Try and not exhaust your energy by doing any strenous activiites till the surgery. Especially if you feel very upbeat and go on burning the fat!

Also with chemo over and surgery decision awaited, try and add as much weight as possible (offcourse if you are not obese already!!)

Preserve the energy to go through the surgery. and arrest the post surgery weight loss by adding prior to surgery, if practical and safe.

🙏

Thanks Mauser, I’ve been told by my specialist nurse to be as fit as I can be so currently I’m doing about 10,000 steps per day and I was planning to go on my exercise bike once the effects of this last chemo have gone. Too much, do you think ? I’m not obese just normal for my height.

I would suggest you would be in best position to consider what's good for you with your teams advice.

Getting fit is good. Not overdoing in excitement and burning out is more of a theme I am pointing to. Take a bucket of salt with this idea.

If you are normal weight then you definitely need to try and add extra margin for the recovery phase. Yes being fit before surgery is going to help you with faster recovery also. So a balance has to be striken by yourself along with medical teams advice.

Yep, that’s sound advice, thank you so much. I’ll kerb my excitement and strike somewhere in the middle x

Well done you sound really positive keep going you.ll get there 👍

Hi Deedals, wishing you a speedy recovery from the therapy and hope you are able to gain as much weight as you possibly can in readiness for your surgery. Some short walks if able will strengthen you for the next part of this journey.

Stay strong and take care.
